Queen of England given "Royal Wii"

Gold console delivered to Buckingham Palace by THQ
THQ turned up at Buckingham Palace today gift her majesty The Queen a special gold-plated Wii.

The blingin' Wii was especially commissioned for the Royal Family to coincide with the launch of THQ's Big Family Games - supposedly the perfect gift game for the Royal Family but that's probably more PR spin than fact.

Not to be outdone, Atari delivered a copy of "My Horse and Me" to Prince Charles and Camilla (note: this is a lie).

Yikes!! *said Sam n Max*

I want one!!!

:)

Problem is that they're not going to be able to buy extra gold Wiimotes for when the grandkids come round.
Posted by Fury83
Is it gold?

"One is shit hot at the bowling"

"Wii are not amused."

Yes...no...?

I'll get my coat.
Posted by Dajmin
Glad to hear it. Because obviously she'd have a tough time finding the cash for one herself...

And yes, altitude2k, I approve :)
Posted by altitude2k
Perhaps there's a hidden meaning in the fact that the Queen was given a golden Wii.

3 thumbs up (due to centuries of inbreeding)
Posted by Slacher007
you can cover a shit in gold but at the end of the day its still a shit
Posted by adgr19
it might as well be white, it'll be covered in dust in a couple months
Posted by wrightandrewjame
Is it me or does it look even tackier now that it's gold plated?
Posted by Budly Moore
I bet she's sick of getting gold stuff, gold crown, gold carriage, gold throne, now gold Wii, bet she'd prefer a purple one.
Posted by leeb1977
look at the pics and youll notice that they havent given her a power pack or leads to connect it to the tv.

I think you will find CVG, that Queen Elizabeth II is not the Queen of England, but the Queen of the United Kingdom (as well as many other countries). Please fix this error.

Also, that Wii looks tacky as hell now - way to go THQ for giving the Queen the tackiest Wii of all time.

One will be putting this on ebay post haste.
Posted by altitude2k
Then surely that does indeed make her the Queen of England...that's just not the full extent of her reign.
Posted by kimoak
Like we haven't heard that one before
Posted by KMakawa
I highly doubt a 83 year old would play the Wii, that's just taking the conkers...
Posted by humorguy
And we need to know this because......?
Posted by finty13
/sigh :(

Does anyone give a damn about this article at all? Come CVG, you can do better than this.

The queen can drop dead for all I care. The way I see it is that royalty no longer has a place in the modern world.

Only English people are stupid enough to let a German family reign over them. Rest of us in UK don't need them or want them. So send them back.
Posted by nb_nmare2
Yep, and while you're at it, send back everyone with French, Italian, Scandanavian, and Irish roots too.

You'll end up with less than 1000 white people left in the entire country, but what the hey.

Gives an excuse for the anti-Wii fanboys to vent their share of bile for the day.
Posted by gbenlcfc
I'm sure most of us would say the same about you. :)
Posted by finty13
Yet you're the only one who has said it. :?
Posted by backbonesalsa
I could imagine the queen buying "Little King's Story"
Posted by nOVA1987
Bet they were gutted they were given a useless golden plated fisher price console lol

actually I thought that as well, so you count that quote at least twice, and anyway the royal family should stay if only for traditions sake.

This does seem random by THQ and a little pointless.

I could say the same about you but I'm not that cold hearted. As for keeping them in place just because of tradition, come on man, get a grip.

Royal families are nothing but leeches sucking up all the wealth while the rest of us are crippled by the economy going down the tubes.
Posted by jamieleng
I wonder what other unwanted gifts reside in the royal attic?
Posted by Stu_the_great
Damn, she must've really been struggling to afford to buy one herself.
