Hopefully we'll see something of the story in the trailer, or even better, some gameplay. Either way, can't wait. :D Ive actually been playing through Mass Effect again over the last few weeks. What a Game!
Along with a certian Mr Wake this is my most anticipated Game this year and next! I did the same thing as well to test it out with my new surround sound system. I was only going to spend 5 minutes, ended up just over ten hours! My favourite game this gen so far. :) Steam me up baby! Can't wait for this bad boy... Not interested in Dragon Age? I am actually looking forward to that more than ME2. I'm sitting on a roof top with the constant, never ending rain thrashing through my hair. I don't know how long I've been up here and my clothes are sodden and cling to my skin.
I'm getting cold now. It's hard to hold on.
The cars and taxis below me are small dots of slow moving light. Everyone is carrying on with their lives unhindered by my knowledge.
A company operative calls to me from someway behind. Her honeysuckle voice a mere whisper against the rain and is drowned by the one thought in my head.
The world was such a big place before my realisation. Now it is as hollow as the TV we are forced to obey.
There is a way for me now. A way to finish this. A way to end the pain of knowing.
I bring my hands to my face and cover my eyes but the image of what I've seen cannot be so easily avoided.
An operative reaches for me, desperately trying to earn a reward by bringing me back to safety. I speak a single word of the truth to her and she falls from the perch, ears bleeding. One word.
As she spirals downward I can hear her honey scream dwindle and dwindle till a walkway silences her.
Her colleagues behind me are shouting now. Sweet words no longer.
I rise to my feet, unsteady and shaking.
I turn towards them and see guns raised. They are telling me to get down from the roof or they'll shoot me. I see the fault with their logic even though they cannot.
The wind is rocking me and I turn away from them.
Looking below me I see salvation.
I will not suffer anymore. That does look better each time I see it, wasn't interested at first due to the fantasy setting. It all depends on whether you prefer fantasy over Sci-Fi, but I do think Dragon Age will surprise a lot of people. Mos Def interested in Dragons Age and coming from Bioware you just know it will be something special, I just really enjoyed ME and cant wait to see what they have in store for us next.
Dragons Age will be a must buy as well though. Same here, after all the bits of info we've had over the last month or two I wanted to boot up the Game again, about 13 hours in and ive turned Shepherd into a serious badass commander :) . Dragons Age could be interesting too, but I'm more interested in ME2 since the original ranks high on the list of my favourite games of all time.
I just hope that moral decisions in ME2 have a more wide-reaching effect than just one colony or one person. Makes it far more interesting if you risk screwing over an entire species :) I'm nearly embarrassed to say that I haven't gotten around to playing ME yet, I'll definitely get it before 2 comes along though. You should be embarrassed. Hide your face, young man :) As long as you break up the trips to the non-mission planets it's well worth a couple of runs through the story.
Can't wait to see what they do with the side quests in the sequel. I imagine they could probably use a Spore-esque method of random generation if they really wanted. Random landscape and environment, random mission from a selection of several types. Could have the entire universe in there :)
Hiding it now, don't worry I won't make the same mistake with the second one. :) Definitely can't wait for this one, ME1 was awesome.
Oh, and Crimbo - that really sounds like the sort of salvation you should be aiming towards post-haste... Wow, this looks amazing  , I'm glad that they are focusing on improving the combat, because it really was a bit of a let down for me. The story and dialogue system where brilliant in the first game though and will only get better in ME 2.
Also, the firs few screenshots remind me of Dead Space, which is a very good thing. Maybe there will be some spooky bits in this too eh? I hope so. :D :D Wow,absolutely fantastic. This game is going to be amazing!!Looking forward to E3. Bioware FTW :!: After watching the video Mr Wake better say hello at E3 or ME2 is my most wanted Game. Fact!
They seem to have taken the criticism and negatives from the first Game and improved upon all of them. Of course the proof is in the pudding (E3 should tell us more) but I think we all know that if you liked the first Game then you'll probably Love this one :D .
2010 seems so far far away though :( . Wow, that really does look incredible. Was excited wen the first one arrived but it turned out to be alright (Too Flawed), not too sure if the current gen tech can live up to the expectations of this but second time means room for plenty of improvement. Could be a winner for xbox Awesome shots! So glad this year is flying by. Should I be allowed to own a 360 if I say i didn't like the original? I think this could be the best game of 2010. But I'm with the others - Dragon Age is the game I'm even *more* stoked for.
Alan Wake looks like it could be a winner too, but it could also be another Alone In The Dark disaster... I want that man's moustache. Like most, I really loved Mass Effect. It could easily have turned out pretty average, but the design, the sound, the features and the feel made it one of my all-time favourites. I have no worries about that this sequel will surpass the first. What really sets this developer apart from most is their story-telling ability.
The character development was some of the best I've seen in games. And I think this was key to making it so enjoyable. When other games create generic characters you don't care about in Mass Effect they felt feel. They had personality and history. The voice acting and writing was clearly key to this.
In the video we're told if a character has died in Mass Effect 1 they're out of the story and won't appear in Mass Effect 2. Makes sense. I wonder how this will play out for anyone who didn't play the first game. Fortunately I lost the character I found the most dull, so I'm happy never to see him again. I wouldn't want to lose any of the others though... especially our blue skinned friend!! ... a man after midnight... @Greatno I believe you shouldnt. :P Hmm, I thought the first game was a bit of a letdown but that sure looks good.
They look to be focusing in the areas I was critical of. Please please make other planets a bit more interesting though.
The only problem I have is that it's not as open ended as it was promised either. If they're going for a leaner more linear RPG then the shooting aspects have to be pukka. And sort out the buggy's handling while your at it.
Trailer looks awesome though, those robodog things are really well done. ....and wasn't this supposed to be multiplatform? will be getting this for pc It could yet turn out that way. There's an interview on 1up with the producer in which he says this game will make sense to those who haven't played the first. My first instinct was that it could end up on PS3 as well further down the road. Oooohh looking and sounding very nice altough the more action in battles scares me as I want a stop strategy button like the original idea for this new game but it doesn't sound like I'm going to get it. :( Ah well will have to settel for a great game instead of a perfect one. Another timed exclusive? This is getting silly. What's the point? »
Nothings been confirmed 100% either way, it would be good for PS3 only owners to grab this if they are into this sort of game.
Can't wait for the sequel personally as noted above some more variety in the non-mission planets would be nice with some bigger bases/dungeons to explore too. Otherwise nothing else needs touching in my book well apart from the horrendous texture pop in. 8) Damn only 24 hours too late to say it |
