For example, if you’ve come to learn there are a significant number of families in your area with toddlers or young children, your congregation might want to expand your preschool or offer parenting classes. The “Neighbor to Neighbor” Mailing List Service uses marketing research data from Claritas, Inc., a leader in providing demographic information. This data has been used to classify households under a broad range of household types, called “lifestyle segments.” Each segment has unique social, economic, family, buying/spending characteristics that distinguish it from the others.

Some lifestyle segments have been classified as “likely to identify with a Lutheran faith” and good “targets” for outreach. You can either choose to send to these households, or you can choose others that you believe will benefit most from your outreach efforts. You can further refine your list according to select demographic variables.
