Demographic Services FAQ's

Through LCEF’s “Neighbor to Neighbor” Mailing List Service, you can purchase targeted mailing lists to reach the most “receptive” audience.

LCEF will provide your congregation or organization names and addresses of selected households in your area based on specific household characteristics, helping you:

  • Reach out to people likely to be drawn to your current ministries.
  • Reach out to people likely to be drawn to a new ministry that meets previously unmet needs.
  • Become a beacon of hope, support, and Christian witness in your neighborhood and community!

Using a targeted approach saves money—you don’t have to blanket your entire community with a mailing, wasting resources.

“Neighbor to Neighbor” is available to ALL congregations, schools, and organizations of the LCMS.

For a fraction of the cost of a fully customized campaign, you can order—online—a complete marketing campaign to promote your school.

  • Four direct-marketing campaigns for Lutheran schools are available.
  • Each offers a variety of marketing tools for pre-K, elementary, and high schools.

Reaching Out to “New” Neighbors

Immanuel Lutheran in Englewood, Colo., took advantage of winning a credit for LCEF services it received during a Rocky Mountain District church workers conference. The congregation ordered a demographic study and a “Neighbor-to-Neighbor” mailing list in order to send our Vacation Bible School invitations. For some, this was the first mailing they had received about a church.

Third Generation of Investors Starting with K.I.D.S. Stamps

When Hannah, Benjamin, and Seth Meyer obtained their first K.I.D.S. Stamps, they became the third generation to invest in the LCEF ministry. Their parents, Darcy and David Meyer, tell their children that LCEF is a stewardship and ministry tool, as well as a way to invest safely.

Darcy’s parents, Dr. Gary and Nola Treece, of Yakima, Wash., helped her invest in LCEF when she was a child. David’s parents, Rev. Laurence and Ona Meyer introduced him to the program when he attended Emanuel Lutheran School in Hamburg, Minn., and participated in the Minnesota South District’s stamp program. Rev. and Mrs. Meyer say that “there is something special in knowing another generation enjoys preparing for the future and supporting the Lord’s work.”

School Gaining Momentum with New Building

Moving in January in Indiana weather may not seem appealing, but the congregation of Holy Cross, Indianapolis, Ind., was eager to start using its new school building. Holy Cross members partnered with LCEF for a construction loan, Capital Funding Services for the capital campaign, and a Demographics study. Next school year, Holy Cross will enroll students through the fourth grade, and will add a grade each year until it reaches the eighth grade. Your investment dollars are helping Holy Cross grow its school and outreach ministry!

New Headquarters for Lutherans in Kenya

Kenya has a fast-growing Lutheran population, yet a relatively small number of full-time pastors. In order to assist and support Lutheran congregations, missions, and schools in this largely Muslim country, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenya (ELCK) constructed a new building called Luther Plaza in Nairobi. LCEF assisted the ELCK with a construction loan made possible through the Arthur C. Haake World Ministry Fund. According to LCMS World Mission, the ELCK has 70,000 members yet only 110 pastors to serve them. The three-story building houses ELCK headquarters, and the central diocese and Nairobi Parish offices, and ministry space. The yet-unneeded extra office space is being rented out to help sustain the operation of the building.

Peace Available to College Students

Peace Lutheran in Eau Claire, Wisc., has been blessed with a growing congregation over the years, but as the Holy Spirit continued to bring people to Peace, it became apparent the church would have to embark on its third building project in 20 years. LCEF partnered with Peace by providing funding. Part of the growth stems from the congregation’s outreach to college students. It offers various worship styles, a user-friendly Web site, and video and multimedia options for them to use to hear God’s message.

Discover God’s Plan for Your Congregation

Strategic Ministry Planning is a faith-based process, asking congregation members to seek their agenda from God. Strategic Ministry Planning is a fully participatory process that is different from other planning processes in that it is designed by Lutherans for Lutherans, grounded in the Word, about the calling of the congregation, and creates a comprehensive plan.

At the completion of the initial Strategic Ministry Planning process, an organization has a clearer focus on its ministry. It also provides members with a three-year strategic ministry plan; demographic study; site and facility review; and clear priorities with a defined timeline.
