Art Haake Plaque Dedication

Helping to fund short-term ministry needs or start-up costs for new ministries of Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod partner churches around the world is the goal of the Arthur C. Haake World Ministry Fund.

Loan requests for the fund come to the Lutheran Church Extension Fund through the LCMS Board of Mission Services. Loans from the fund are generally in the $50,000 to $500,000 range and do not exceed terms of five years. Interest rates are based on the ability of partner churches to repay and range from 0% to the current applicable loan rate.

How can investors participate?

LCEF Investors are encouraged to participate in the Arthur C. Haake World Ministry Fund through any of five options:

  • Donate all or part of their interest earned by their LCEF investments to the World Ministry Fund.
  • Designate a direct gift to LCEF for the World Ministry Fund.
  • Designate the World Ministry Fund as a beneficiary in their estate planning.
  • Entire principal.
  • StewardAccount® VISA Check Card purchases.

The Arthur C. Haake World Ministry Fund differs from other LCEF investments because of the risk involved in lending money to partner churches in other countries. Rapid fluctuations in the value of foreign currencies could make it difficult for borrowers to repay their loans.

About Arthur C. Haake

Arthur C. Haake served as President of LCEF from 1978 to 1997. He is remembered as an effective Christian leader and a man of God. His leadership helped focus LCEF on its ministry role and goal of “making a difference.” His dedicated service to the Church, to other people, and to making a difference through the ministry of LCEF is an enduring legacy.

Art’s service has been memorialized at LCEF headquarters with a plaque featuring a soaring eagle. One of Art’s favorite verses of scripture was Isaiah 40:31: “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
