With the release of the cool sounding ps3 exclusive Demon's Souls(good review on eurogamer), it's no surprise to see it doing well.
I have to say it, the ps3 is trumping the 360 for exclusives this year. And this is coming from a 360 fan who likes his ps3 as well. Good stuff from Sony so far in 2009. And you care about NPD?
Anyway back to topic, it is hardly surprising as Japan's been always Sonyland. There's a review of the import copy of Demons Souls in this months PSW. The guy said it's the best RPG he's played this generation. Lucky Japanese. Totally agree, I love my 360 but the PS3 lineup is looking cracking for this year, good times for all (or PS3 owners at least!) I bought a PS3 on ebay yesterday. I think it finally has enough content to justify the price There are 3 versions of Demon Souls available. One of them has English subtitles and instruction sheet. I think it may be the Korean version. Well worth an import from what I hear.
I really hope it comes to PAL sometime in the future - same with Yakuza 3.
Also, can you imagine PS3 sales when the full game (FF)gets released? Jaysus. just give us yakuza 3 for europe now. subtitled for added effect. and less localisation time.
hate japanese characters speaking with a pretentious english accent.
edit- beaten to it. shows its popular over here though. Everytime I see Demons Souls it reminds me of a Team Ico game for some reason. Yakuza 3 import didn't get as good a review but to be fair the reviewer said the game is dialogue heavy and it's all in Japanese with no subtitles and he was missing out big chunks of the plot. Demon's Soul reminds me of Ninja Gaiden (the Xbox one - not the horribly unbalanced sequel). wow. Really does show you how much cloat final fantasy has in japan. It being an exclusive over there is really gonna continue to boost sales of the PS3. Surprised the wii didn't have more sales this week though. seeing as monster hunter g was rereleased for it with a demo of monster hunter 3.
Well it did until i played it. damn thing is the most lazy ass port i ever saw, yoiu need a classic controller just to play it and **** alls changed from the original. Monster hunter 3 on the other hand is class. shame sega or noone else has bothered to pick up Yakuzua yet for a western release, put a tiny bit of marketing behind that game and i think it would sell well based on looks alone. yeah. it does look really something. Guess it depends how well yakuza 1 and 2 sold over here though doesn't it. Looks like it would be a big project to localise. Do you think Yakuza would sell more copies if it used the slogan "We're not making Shenmue 3; get over it"? Not really. Shenmue is a cult classic, even if they were to make it the masses would still ignore it. ****s.
What Sega should do is test the market by releasing the first two on Live/PSN in episodes (Sam & Max) and see what happens. it is a mystery why the Japanese are such an easy target on these forums. Quite frankly it is appalling and astounding
they are passive and quiescent creatures - like the Basking Shark: outwardly frightful but possessing an innate placidity that betrays their appearance
you know i don't know why there is this constant scramble to copy what's happening over the Atlantic
Who knows why it is - do you?
hey, what worries me greatly is we apply this practice to the videogame worlde
all these abhorrent violent games and shooters are consumed by the Microsoft mob on these forums (in particular), meaning we have a horrifying 'All Formats Charts' in the UK full of violence and aggression
you think :
1.Little Big Planet 2.Heavy Rain
would ever be commissioned as major titles by Microsoft :?:
no but bloody hell Sony would
this Japanese company are striving for innovation and don't seek to obliterate all creativity like it is a disease
and what do we get on these forums: we get the baying mob of forum bullies and thugs laughing at Sony and their ideals - picking fun at PS3s 3rd place position and questioning the lack of shooters and violence in its library of innovative hits
i aint f*cking having it So japan was nintendo land then sony took over then nintendo took over now sony is taking it again wow  japanese are always ahead of the rest of the world, they know when a FAD is dead and rightly so
i want yakuza3 for europe and my swede pal got demon souls and says its amazing Anyone know if they are going to sell those limited edition PS3's over here? You are a tool.
Of course Sony exclusives like Resistance, Haze and Killzone aren't at all shooty and violent are they? And it's good to know that Suivaloom's also missed the fact that the 360 has games such as Viva Pinata, Banjo Kazooie, Kameo, Braid and Fable, not to mention (the admittedly awful) Lips and Scene It? games. If that doesn't show at least some variation then I don't know what does.
I don't recall anyone mocking the Japanese before- we all know there taste in games can border on shockingly bad, but they probably think the same thing about us. Did LBP sell well in Japan by the way?
Bottom line: Suiv knows nothing. They've a good ways to go yet before taking over again. Don't get too excited. Same goes for the rest of the world.
If it's a fad, then long may it continue. I've had far more social interaction/enjoyment through mine than the George Foreman Grill wanabe sat next to it. i got both consoles.. both good.. Xbox live wins it for me.. but i like Killzone 2... frag out and all that Did Sony just sell 62,000 consoles by changing the name of the colour from black to Cloud Black? Genius. |
