Share this article: Digg.comFacebookGoogle BookmarksN4GGamerblipsdel.icio.usRedditSlashdot.orgStumbleUpon Looks good, can't wait. it may look a lot like the first one but still looks damn cool! the fact that you get to play as a big daddy has me excited! cant wait for it! While the first half with the Big Sister was excellent, what the hell were they thinking with the second half?
Not only does it make the Drill look utterly impotent (the guy playing couldn't wait to get rid of it), but they dared show a crappy escort mission that were much-maligned in the original game, and an all-out killathon which is the exact opposite of what Bioshock is about. For the first footage, this was very badly chosen.
Liked the Little Sister's final words though. Nice and creepy. More of that, Big Sister, spectacle and story, less of the rubbish stuff from the first game made worse please. woot cant wait It looks almost exactly the same as the original, just with new features ... but is that a bad thing?
Bioshock looked amazing almost 2 years ago and it still looks amazing today. And lets be honest, the environments and the general look of the game can't really be changed much can it? Bioshock supplied an incredible underwater city to roam around in that was full to the brim with a creepy atmosphere. If the look of the world changed, it wouldn't be Bioshock anymore.
Besides, the gameplay looks set to be ramped up with plasmid/weapon dual wielding, the idea of seeing the whole thing through the eyes of the lovable Big Daddy and the Big Sister to look out for. You'd also be a big fat liar if you said the whole story behind the game and Rapture wasn't one of the main reasons for playing the original ... until it got to the crap part anyway. *first game spoiler*
hmm....it could still be the main character from the first game, with what hes doing at the end of the first game, and the presence of a fire plasmid in this big daddy (which i don't remember any old big daddy's doing)
or thats just wishful thinking i dunno :P
*end spoiler*
looks awesome though :D There were parts in the first Bioshock where you were effectively trapped in a small area while swarms of enemies attacked from all corners. What we saw in this trailer just looked exactly the same. I doubt the whole game is like they, they probably just wanted to show off some gunplay.
I think it looks awesome, has made me want to play through the first again! Awesome. god damn amazing. no need to change from the first at all. it holds up perfectly to this day. You guys better get used to it. as stated in OPSM this onslaught occurs everytime you instruct a little sister to extract ADAM from corpses. Splicers come out hoping to get some for themselves, its your job to protect her Looks better than I expected. I'm not keen on playing the entire game as a big daddy. It puts me off the game a bit. Damn it the video wont load properly for me! Please tell someone has uploaded this to Youtube? Looks pretty good to me. Got the first one but haven't had a proper go at it yet, looking forward to both! Not too sure so far. Seemed a little bit in your face for my liking. That line from the little sister at the end didn't impress me either 'Mr B the Big Sister doesn't want you playing with me...' Blah! Blah! Wow, this looks awesome, the Big Sister stuff is amazing, but I think they did something with Tenenbaum's voice, did anybody else notice this? I hope it's still the same voice actress.
Also, duel-wielding plasmids and guns looks like a hell of a lot of fun and taking out guys with a drill is pretty sweet... mmm... I can taste it already... Couldn't get the video to play, either.
I must say, though, the simple thought of playing as a Big Daddy for the game sounds terrible. I assumed it was one of the 'dud' storylines from a while back that were bogus.
Give me more Andrew Ryan, adventure, intrigue and an evolution of the series. Going back to Rapture for the 3rd game would be ideal, but this seems a little boring, and 'playing it too safe'.
I preferred the slightly askew idea of playing as some random and battling giant squids, and spliced ruskies/animals. It looks ok, but please dont tell me that your main job is to escort little sisters and protect them while they harvest adam.
That was by far the worst part of the first game, it really, really was.
Its stupid but I actually feel sad at the thought that this may be true. the first bit looked as though it would play off the horror element more. i hope this follows through as the sick twistedness of the first game was what made it so excellent. Also i hope the drill will make a more spectacular death in the finished game as that just looked like an energy sword kill from Halo.
I want impaling and ridiculous violence if they are going to include a drill not some namby pamby you hit the enemy flies back. It does look incredibly similar to the first one, however that's not nessecarily a bad thing.
I did want to be blown away by the graphics as I was with the original when I first put it in n loaded it up.(by no means do I think the first one's dated as far as graphics go, you just come to expect it to be better than the last) Not sure if you are playing as a Big Daddy as the character you play in the vid seemed rather light footed compared to them. Certainly there was a drill weapon, has it actually been confirmed that you will be playing as a BD? I agree with the above poster about the character being a little light footed and agile to come across as a Big Daddy in the sense of the first game's. Maybe, being the first, you're a failed prototype and not fully fused into your suit but how does that explain surviving the flood or the drill in your hand?
Not sure about having to constantly keep the little sisters in check. Could be tedious after a while.
Looks awesome though. Game of 2009 without a doubt! :D *sigh*
you play as the first Big Daddy, not as evolved as the ones you fought in Bioshock 1, you're more human. Therefore you can still use plasmids and are quite agile, but you get to wield massive weapons, such as the drill and the rivet gun in one hand and can explore the ocean floor. You get the benefits of both.
And as for the little sisters, you don't have to escort them everywhere. They ride safely on your back until you tell them to collect adam. This lets you set up and plan out battle areas, like when fighting Big Daddies for their little sisters in Bioshock 1. then you can take them to a vent to ditch them, or harvest them to get a bit mroe adam.
Am I the only one who saw the huge section on OPSM about this game? *sigh* Yes you are :P People are forgetting that, Why does it look like the first one.. Pretty much because the engine they use are at its top of its level, They have they're individual design style, However it does have a lot of improvements in it, Just lovin the style, They wont change it :) Does look familiar but it brings back happy memories. Can't wait to go back to Rapture :P Looks great
I love the original design and setting of this game. God bless 2K!
I do hope they keep the action down though and maximize the horror
The Tenenbaum audio is particularly impressive. What was that? Was it her? Follow her! I love the tone of her voice when she says 'Follow her!'
I really want to love this game but I am slightly skeptical... Let's face it- in the grand scheme of things saying that you worked on Bioshock 2 would be enough to make the vast majority of those who know about videogames very impressed with you, regardless of whether it looks like Bioshock version 1.5 or not.
They're implemented glass walls that fully crack, spilling water, like I wanted and that should maybe have been in the first game.
It's up to them what they do with the series but I hope the fact that Ken Levine isn't involved doesn't mean that it turns out more Super Mario Sunshine than Super Mario Galaxy.
Would it be good if Bioshock always restricted itself to this 'art deco' period with 1950s music, as great as it is? Maybe not- why not go a bit Timesplitters (but in a more subtle way) and visit some other periods. No doubt Ken Levine is planning on coming back on board for Bioshock 3 and making it as refreshingly different as the first game. Still, Bioshock 2 may be better than Resident Evil 5. But Uncharted 2 is looking brilliant. Good thinking on the time thing but it's sort of happened when it went from System shocks futuristic space setting and now Bioshocks deco underwater stylings. Maybe the next "shock" series will be something completely out of the blue. I should have done my research lonewolf. Lots of people say System Shock is great but I haven't yet played it.
It must have taken them ages to design the first Bioshock game so it'd probably seem a waste to radically change the look. System Shock was great for it's time, I agree with how Bio looks good and cannot see them scrapping the engine though any time soon. Changing the setting shouldn't be too much of a problem for such skilled game makers. All of this of course lies in the hands/minds of the devs and I will just enjoy Bio for what it is for now. :D Hopefully that will silence all the naysayers. The Big Sister looks as creepy as I expected her to. Can't wait. I'm playing through Bioshock again right now! :D I didn't play the original because I was not quite sure about the feel of the setting and the gameplay. I am now convinced this could be a very good game the sequal. Of course the graphics will be sublime with the Unreal engine 3 taking all of the credit, yet again. Definitely think I will buy it based on that trailer. Dude, you should definitely treat yourself and buy the first Bioshock to get to know the backstory and all that. And to be honest, the original Bioshock will probably remain the better game after Bioshock 2 comes out so you really can't go wrong getting it. |
