The Yanks in Aussie in WW2

Thousands of American service personnel came to Australia during WW2 to help fight the war in the South West Pacific Area (SWPA). They changed Australia in many ways.
Yanks learning 2 Up from some Diggers while some of their mates keep guard and others have a yarn. Note the tropical helmets on the US troops.

Many tent cities were set up on Australian farmland to handle the influx.

Every day the hotels would get a supply of beer which was heavily rationed. When the "suds" were about to come on the queue would form and often went up the street as this one in Brisbane shows. Note the US Navy and US Army mixed with Aussie civilians and some Diggers.
