Event organizers have roped in Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima to present a keynote to an industry audience at March's Game Developers Conference.
It will be the first time that the acclaimed designer will be presenting at GDC. "The Game Developers Conference has invited Hideo Kojima to keynote every year for as long as I can remember, so we couldn't be more excited that, at long last, he feels that it is time for him to address the game development community," said GDC director Meggan Scavio in a statement.
Kojima's confirmation to appear at GDC comes after he recently expressed sentiments that Japan game developers are falling behind their Western counterparts.
But Kojima's own relevance is undeniable, as his latest creation, Metal Gear Solid 4, buoyed Konami fiscal year-to-date financials with 4.5 million units sold.
His keynote, titled "Solid Game Design: Making the 'Impossible' Possible," will take place Thursday, March 26, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. PST in the Esplanade Room of the Moscone Center's South Hall.
