and why did it take me 30 goes to get the update? any word from sony?
and why aren't there any Porches in any gran turismo games? and a bugatti veyron. sony & polyphony, please add these cars. I would be happy :D if I could just take my hard earned F1 car online. Come on get your finger out and add this option to the online play.
I am also pissed off with getting kicked out of an online game two seconds after it has started as well as the 4 second time penalty when I hit into someone who has spun out infront of me.   Probably a lot of people that are either ignorant, jealous, or very stupid. Wow, that's a pretty big update. I just hope the prologue doesn't become so good most people end up not buying the full game  Atleast you've got it ! Apparantly it's a known issue, though they don't seem to be doing much about it...
Vehicle damage would make a hell of a difference. Hopefully after all the time they've taken to get it implemented it'll be worth it!
Jenksy Well vehicle damage will completely ruin online, unless its also sorted out. Its bad enough as it is with its bumper car nature. Damage in single player will be good though, IF the ai is told not to smash into you like it currently does. Personally I'd rather they address the framerate and tearing issues in the game before they start adding damage modelling! Great game though and a technical marvel despite the issues... 1080p, 60 fps racing games that look and play this good are a rarity on the console! 8) I think it's EA that still hold the rights to Porsche. You'll just have to make do with RUF. Well now, let me see. It's not a demo? They've released an unfinished game as a "prologue", and are now releasing other features bit by bit until finally they'll give you the "full" GT5 Prologue. Even if you class this as a stand-alone game, you have two issues to justify that. Firstly, if this is a full game, why is it so cheap? Surely a triple A title like GT5 wouldn't be such a bargain? Secondly, if this is a full game, why has it been released with missing features such as vehicle damage which they've clearly been working to include?
Whichever way you cut it, this game is incomplete.
When you eventuallu get the full version of GT5 - and particularly if the prologue updates aren't free - you'll have ended up paying around twice the retail value of a single game for the complete GT5 experience. Does that not strike anyone as a bit of a con? Its not like GTA3, with its Vice City and San Andreas sequels, which were full games in their own right.
I'll say it again: no matter how you cut it, GT5 is currently incomplete and is being sold episodically. I find online great, especially the expert events. ( not many wrecking crews ) obviously the lack of private options is a downer, but I've spoken to a home tester who says that he can join the events via home but not set-up a game but options wise and like many Ps3 titles all the achievements and home stuff is waiting to be unlocked on the disks you already own. Awesome...anything that makes this game better than it already is; is a bonus. I agree with the in-game music thing also; when i first played i thought there was gonna be some cool music like the trailer at the beginning. There wasn't...and since sony still haven't sorted an in-game XMB, i have to rely on my PC. so r we going to see visual damage on the cars, or just a warning light telling you that your steering is screwed? spaz do u think it took years of moaning by fans and so called negotations to come up with a damage warning light?!
online needs sorted its pish. cars go see-through and u can pass through them. i severely hope that isnt in the finished game! damage should punish rammers and **** up their engine, they wont be doing it for long.. and i hope they collision penalties arent in the finished game, thats just wrong. probably cause online is a work in progress. hooray for damage, this game might be worth getting now, at least the full version anyway. There are, they're just under a different name )RUF I think its because another games company has copyright to the name 'porsche' as somone else here has already said.
Vercetti where in Scotland are you from? glasgow. how u know i was in scotland? Cos you said "pish" probably.
C. that update was a pain, nearly every time it reached halfway the error appears, it takes about 10 minutes to get there, but when i managed to download it, it taken only 5 minutes. im really looking forward to this new update, really need a better online mode with all those needed features.
having damage will make it more interesting, it will make it more realistic, but with online it will just be worse as it is now, i hope theres things like engine failure while you race (although might seem a bit too realistic and unfair), just had the thought from a formula 1 game when performance failure happens randomly without colliding into other cars or into barriers. the only problem i have with the AI is they just get in the way, they never smash into me (thats those idiots job when you play them online).
i would like to see improvements to the penalties, i do get sick of pile ups and cars get in your way and you get penalised for it, even if you been hit by someone else and going into a barrier or another car, you still get penalised, even you are not at fault. but i would still like the main penalties on for cheating by cutting corners and being un-sportsmanship, but seriously get rid of the unfairly penalties. all penalties have to be off - there a joke at best. the game cant determine whos cheating or whos fault it was so penalties need to come off, they are a disgrace. get a good damage system that ****s over anyone who rams (whether they meant it or not) and starts to damage engine and performance. with minimal (performace) damage to the ramee. PGR and Forza have Porsches in them so maybe it is saved for the full game. No game company owns the rights to Porsche! Maybe Sony doesn't want to foot the cash to get them in game. I recall in Forza the reason they said cars can't flip is because certain car manufacturers would allow that for their cars in the game so therefore no cars flip at all. I'm a little surprised a game this long in the making is so full of bugs. Screen tearing, no online, no damage, no voice? Will this update be free and if not will you pay for an update for a demo? If so never complain about $50 a year for LIVE again please. Seems like a good idea, although as with the penalty system how would the game be able to identify who is the culprit if a car is rammed and spins out in front of a car that's minding its own business. Before I start, Im sure there was not this much bashing when GT4 Prologue came out!
Thats Right, its a Prologue. Have you ever heard of a Demo with 6 tracks (plus mirrors and diffrent course routes), Online play, Online score boards and 60 cars?
Because its not a full game, its still a Prologue. the full game is not finished yet.
I known, its like a dream come true!
Come on now, surly the word "Prologue" should of been clear enough to tell you this is not a full game. Do you not remember GT4 Prologue? If you do, its a lot like that but change 4 to a 5 and its on PS3 not PS2!
Er....no. If this was a released as a full 40 quid game then yes, it would be unfinished. But its a "Prologue", so judging by the amount they have put in the title and price tag are justified.
Well if you dont like GT then if 20 quid fell out of your pocket, landed in a shop and they forced you to have it, then yeah its a con. But if you feel 6 tracks (plus mirrors and diffrent course routes), Online play, Online score boards, 60 cars and a brilliant gaming exprence which is already better than a lot of "full" games - then I'm sure you wont feel knocked.
Say it has many times as you like, write it down, take a picture, it does not matter as your idea of a Prologue being incomplete is wrong. Here this might help: http://www.answers.com/topic/prologue »Before I start, Im sure there was not this much bashing when GT4 Prologue came out!

The thing is if the same tracks, cars and options appear appear in the final version of GT5, then GT5P can be and will be considered a demo.
As someone pointed out not too long ago, the Sega Saturn magazine years ago gave everyone a free copy of the first disc of Panzer Dragoon Saga. Was it a prologue? No. It was used as a demo to get people interested in the game. GT5P is no different, except you're paying £20-£25 for part of a game that won't be fully completed and released for another 12 months.
If you want to fork out money for a demo, that's up to you. I'm not going to ask you to justify your purchase. But don't pretend it's anything other than a demo. A big demo, granted, but still a demo. »»Before I start, Im sure there was not this much bashing when GT4 Prologue came out!

It's a ****ing prologue! Can't you read!? yes, a demo that has updates, hmm thats never happened before, so hey it must be a small game that gets updated over time wow, so erm shadowblaze, do you feel silly now for making a tit of yourself, yes, oh well, dont get cocky next time Turn 10 also has Porsches in there Forza Motorsport games.

Yeah, I thought about Forza a few hours after the post. Could still be a rights problem. To be honest, I haven't really been following.

lets cut to the chase: call it Prologue or a glorified Demo, whichever you like, but it's apparent that millions of die-hard fans have been satisfied with it's content, and thats what matters most. personally i'd rather pay $40 for GT5 Prologue than $60 for a full fledged racing game that doesn't even offer the same quantity of content. that GT5 may come out 12 months later with 10-20 times the content of Prologue is only a testament to the quality of GT5 itself, and yet it has no true bearing in the meantime. »»»Before I start, Im sure there was not this much bashing when GT4 Prologue came out!

Only_777, I fully understand the term prologue thank you very much and that is my point. Its an introductory chapter. Therefore its the beginning of the full game, which will be released subsequently; for full price.
Let's put this into context. If I gave you the first 8 levels of Devil May Cry 4, and called it Devil May Cry 4 Prologue, and then released another 12 levels later, you'd say the full game was larger than the Prologue. But does that make it game in its own right? Shouldn't all of that content have been bundled together in the first place? Even if it means that the game takes a while longer to be released?
Anyway, you've even said yourself above that it isn't a full game. Just because upadates to missing content can be provided via dlc these days doesn't excuse releasing an incomplete product; prologue or otherwise.
Skip back to the days before dlc and you'd have called a game with missing features a demo. Again, this is regardless as to the amount of content. It basically a way for the dev to episodically release content and thus make a greater profit. If you doubt me, just do a quick calculation of how much it'll end up costing you to own GT5 in its entirety. I can guarantee it'll cost more than a single game, which according to the definition of prologue, is what this should be. I had the same problem but i tried it on a wired connection instead of through a router and it worked first time. :? |
