Share this article: Digg.comFacebookGoogle BookmarksN4GGamerblipsdel.icio.usRedditSlashdot.orgStumbleUpon Was there any doubt it was PS3 bound? The fact that it didnt sell to well on the PS3 last time was because it was released 1 year after the 360 version, release them both at the same time and I would imagine 2K would have some pretty big Day 1 sales figures.
The first was a really good game, here's hoping as many Gamers as possible get to play it at the same time, this time around. Let's hope the release it for 360 and PS3 at the same time. We don't want all the PS3 fanboys tripping over their bottom lips  Good. The more people who get to play this the better. Even if it was a timed exclusive for 360, which I doubt, PS3 fans have got more than enough to look forward to this year. Personally, I'd take Heavy Rain and Drakes 2 over Bioshock 2 anyday, though I'm sure it will be a good game. As great as the first? Not so sure, as the original writer isn't doing the sequel. Slightly worrying, I'd say. Good for you 2K now would you kindly release the DLC for the PS3 and bang it on XBL for us 360 fans please. 30th October is the release date for the 3 versions. Mark240473, Drake's 2 will be great yep, but i'm not sure i'd take heavy rain over bioshock 2 yet. I didn't like their last game(indigo phophecy?) that much, i know it had its fans but it also had a lot of people(including me)who found it a borefest. Too much story and not enough gameplay(unless you like that kind of thing).
I hope bioshock 2 lives up to the original, i have my doubts though. interesting opinion, bioshock was regarded very highly when it was released, certainly higher than drakes 1. heavy rain looks nice but i remain unconvinced and the fact that we already know about bioshock surely that adds in its favour as it has already delivered the goods, heavy rain may not.
i agree with you about the people involved, it worries me quite a lot when the original people aren't involved but as bethesda have shown with fallout 3 its not all bad. Well, Mr Mark, I'd be very happy to play all three of them :) They have the assets from Bioshock 1 and presumably it's the same writing team behind it, so hopefully it should retain the feel of the original.
If they can recapture the magic of the first (a story that even my non-shooter-fan girlfriend) was interested in, then this could be the console's answer to Half Life.
I just hope they can. If the teaser sire is anything to go by its going to be just as interesting as the original plot wise. Really looking forward to it.
I have a feeling it'll be released near the last date that crops up on the teaser site.
Just hiope its sooner rather than later. Yes, this could sell very well if released on PC/PS3/Xbox 360 at the same time. If would estimate a final sales figure of around 8 million. I'd prob end up getting the PS3 version if given a choice on launch day. Bear in mind I've never played the PS3 version of the first so I don't have a lot of say here, but it seems like a lot of games that utilise the unreal engine on the 360 always have issues with texture loading.
I'd assume that this would certainly be minimised given the usual mandatory install, can anyone confirm if the first release still has this same issue because it really annoys me when I play games, completely pulls you out of the experience IMO. Irritated the hell out of me on Mass Effect. Well if MS want to invest their money in timed exclusives rather than original games that's their prerogative. Same day or not, still 360 version for me, had enough of getting shafted on ps3 multiformat games There are no 'texture loading' issues on the 360 version, i have this game on both systems and there's nothing to choose between the two.
I will say that the 360 version, just feels better, not sure why, it's probably down to my preference of the controller on the 360, which is far better than the dualshock. Thats interesting... I know there were a few reports around the 360 release that deleting the file cache would improve performance, I never had any luck with that. But I assure you my 360 at the time would take ages to load textures in game. Then again I did have a launch machine from day 1 so maybe it was a bit sluggish (i.e. broken). It did break eventually  . I prefer PS3 version cos of blurry effect. It makes the game more atmospheric. The original Bioshock looked decent on the PS3, especially after the patch, but I believe the 360 version looked a bit crisper.
Hopefully it will be of equal quality on both consoles this time around.
Either way, small differences in visuals shouldn't detract from a good game. Even if I had to play all my games in 480p, I'd still enjoy them. There's far too much focus on which console game looks the best at the moment and I am beginning to find it very tedious. I completed bioshock again recently on the ps3 just to get the trophies(rental services are useful for this). There was hardly any difference compared to the 360 version, just as much fun to play as the 360 version and with added DLC as well(although i never bothered with that).
It was definitely blurrier though in the graphics department, it looked to be running under 720p to me(640p maybe). Same game, slightly worse graphics. Hope PS3 Bioshock 2'll be a bit blurry as the original version - It matches the game. Great use of HD, there... absolutely everyone should be able to play this at the same time no doubt.
and im an 360 player.
lookin forward to this one :-) Great news. Bring on the love 2K. Now if only Bungie announces a new game for PS3 too. Good news gaming day. exclusives + recession = financial suicide As long as there's a PC version, I couldn't give two hoots about what console BS2 appears on.
Gamepads will never beat good old mouse + keyboard for this kind of game. After reading the Eurogamer head-to-heads I don't think I'll ever opt for the PS3 version of a multi-platform game. It's wldhook2, of COURSE he'd prefer the PS3 version, even if it cost 50 quid more and punched you in the gut after each chapter... The more people that play this, the better. Also, if a game's a timed exclusive, developers tend to 'no comment' on whether it will reach other platforms, as requested by the exclusivity-holder. Guys, there's new info on www.somethinginthesea.com aint gonna happen im affraid, too bad I don't think there was ever any doubt it was coming to the PS3 considering there is a trailer for the game at the end of the original Bioshock. from what i have read on Kotaku, you playing as a Big Daddy wanting his own little sister..sounds absolutely awful..fighting other Big Daddies..oh please.and especially the 'Nemesis' like Big Sister coming after you through the levels loved the first game, easily one of my top 10 and so im worried as hell how this is going to turn up story wise. hopefully take 2 will not milk this series to death. Good for ps3 owners but i'll take the PC version thank you very much. |
