Not tried a MadKatZ pad yet as i cant find any - so i bit the bullet and traded it for killzone 2 - needless to say i dont feel like im missing the game what is with everyone using ken online it's ridiculous....there are other characters.ken is so cheap it's unreal Yeah, Summer when everyone should be outside enjoying the 2 days of sun that we'll probably get. Not sure why it is taking so long to port over. Pc uses multiple configurations. Consoles don't.
This game is perfectly playable with a 360 if you use the left analogue stick rather than the d pad.
All you need is a little parctice and to to tweak the button config and its not too hard to get the hang of it. I was going to get a madkatz pad but now i don't think i'll bother.
I hate people that complain about pads , ever thought you were just either lazy or crap at it. Enjoy Killzone 2. If you had a ps3 then why bother getting it on the 360 if the pad if woefully inadequete. I'll do as I please. They need to be careful or they'll miss the window of people actually giving a shit. I played it on my mates 360. Meh - it was alright. Not gonna buy it though. Crybaby. He's not cheap at all, in fact he's pretty underpowered in this one. I should know, he's been my main since World Warrior all the way through to 3rd Strike, and I'm not gonna change just because a few nubs are whinging that he's popular. Plus if there are so many Kens you should have had plenty of practice in beating them shouldn't you. If you're crying 'cheap' because you keep getting caught out by the same spammed moves over and over then that says more about your skill than theirs.
There are a lot of Kens and Ryus because they are the recognisable faces of the game and they're easy to get the basics of. Plus anybody that's played any SF before will have a basic understanding of them. It will tail off. A lot of the people using them now won't stick around because they have no interest in actually learning the game, as proven by the amount of people that still use them and only spam Fierce Shoryuken and Fierce Hadoken. They'll get bored and move on, especially when they find using Ken and Ryu isn't the easy win they remember from SFII.
They've all already started moving to Gief and Sagat, and started spamming either Lariat, jump, SPD or Tiger Shots and Tiger Knee. Over the past few days I've also faced a fair few scrubby runaway Akumas too. A lot of these players only have the one tactic, so all you need to do is work around it and then they don't know what to do. Why get it on the 360? Because i could get hold of the 360 version on the monday before release, and they wasnt getting the PS3 version untill the Thursday!
And also the fact that i have Tekken 5 on PS3 and my friends mainly have a 360 as they think the £300 mark is too steep!- so they said they would get it, but after playing mine they agree'd the pad is shite, and the analog is just a messy mistake on a beat-em up. Yet they are quite willing to spend £140 every couple of months and pay £40 a year - go figure??? What's the 140 for?
I've gotta say I'm happy to pay my Live fee for SFIV alone. SFIV on Live is sooooo much better than on PSN. Ranked on PSN is a mess. It takes twice as long to search out the games, then virtually every one says 'can't connect' or 'game is already full'. The connection is ropey at best. I haven't been kicked from a single game on Live, yet in one night alone on PSN I got kicked from 3 fights while playing people on here, even though all of us were on 4 bars.
Can't comment on the pads though as I use sticks on both. I reckon the PC version is going to end up being the most played and longest lasting in the end. The community will no doubt work their magic on the net code, plus most regular fighter players will have a stick that works on PC already thanks to playing on GGPO. Thats weird, I read somewhere that the SF4 arcade machine is basically a Core 2 Duo and pretty basic graphics card in an arcade cabinet. If that's true you'd think it would take no time at all to put out on PC!
After all the hoo haa surrounding the 360 pad for SFIV, I was surprised to see find it played so well. I haven't played a SF for quite a while, apart from Super SF2 on the Virtual Console, so using analogue sticks are fine for me. The dpad does suck though. The six button MD pad for SCE was awesome.
Maybe if you want to really go mental and do all the real techy elements of it you might not find it good enough, but I'm not good enough for that yet! To be honest, PS3 or 360 doesn't really matter to me, using shoulder buttons is the real pain. Can't seem to get my head around FADC etc though. I'm sure I cancelled a dragon punch last night, but that was it! The Arcade Version - £120 - £140 - what ever!
You think the online system is good? Hell i dont know i thought Tekken 5 is the best online system as its winner stays on and you can watch the fights live, just hate the fact the owner can kick!
The 360 verison i stuggled to find games i could connect to? all showed 0 bars and wouldnt let me join, i had to create to fight (this was Ranked)
the PS3 version i have no idea i havent played it, and dont think i will I'll buy it if they include cross-platform multiplayer. Why would they buy a new system every couple of months?
I didn't say SFIV's online system was great, it needs lobbies and spectate mode for a start, all I was saying was that the difference between the quality of SFIV online on 360 and SFIV online on PS3 is large enough to justify the cost of Live alone for me. I haven't bothered with Tekken online as I'm not a fan, always preferred VF if I'm honest and I've only ever seemd to hear that Tekken is a laggy mess online, but of all the fighters I've played online on console SSFIIT:HDR on 360 has easily the best online system. Great netcode, multiplayer lobbies, tournaments, spectating and double-blind character selection. It's the Halo match-making of online fighters. Any other fighters released need to copy and add to it. to theideal.look i aint crying just airing a grievance not with ken but the way people spam.i prefer to use vega, fei long, cammy and maybe akuma.as soon as i started using ken i gave those fools what was coming to them.i just want variety when i fight you know not repetitious cheesy shoryuken spamming fools. p.s seth is a good way to counter these spammers. Read this then, if people get pissed off by spamming. It's hilarious, talk of scrubs and the like. Scrubs don't play to win apparently, and they complain about people being cheap.
Playing to solely win has never been what I've been about. I'd rather lose a game of FIFA but play well and score cracking goals as opposed to exploiting the game.

Plus, I thought 'scrubs' spent all their time is the passenger side of their best friends' ride? As much as I'm not really a fan of David Sirlin, his book makes a lot of sense.
It's perfectly fine for you or anyone else to not be concerned with winning. Player Match caters for that. Hook up with like minded people and play your heart out. If you don't like how someone plays/acts leave the lobby or kick them and try someone else. Send friend requests to people you have fun fights with or fight people you get on with from the forums.
The annoyances start when people roll into Ranked Matches or to the arcade with the same attitude. They then head to the forums crying about so and so tactic/character/technique being 'cheap'. The whole point of Ranked is to win, and as long as you're playing within the confines of the game and not fannying about with connections and the like, or exploiting game-breaking glitches (which can thankfully be patched out in this day and age rather than killing a game until the next full-priced iteration. Though it's a grey area anyway, as we probably wouldn't have had combos without the glitches in the first place), then all is fair. It makes even more sense when you're playing on an arcade cab for your pound.
People keep using the word 'cheap' on here in the wrong context. theideal thanks man...you speak the truth and i took your advice can't believe i was slow to pick up the logic you're displaying now.my experience is better now.i use cheap in the context where skill isn't being displayed in player matches just ruthless repetition. If you ever fancy a quick game just drop me a friend request. Gamertag's in my sig. I'm always happy to play. |
