Perry squares up to Sony over PSP2

Prove me wrong and "state that PSP 2 WILL have UMD", Perry demands
Acclaim's Dave Perry has told Sony to outright deny his claim that the UMD drive will be dropped in a new PSP iteration.

Perry made the claim last week, speculating that the new model PSP would be repositioned as a "fully digital online device" and could release as soon as this autumn.

"John Koller is publicly questioning my post about PSP 2," Perry said on his Twitter page, after Sony's head of hardware marketing stated that the UMD business is "critical to us this year and beyond".

"So I confirmed with Top PSP 2 developers," Perry continued. "John, state that PSP 2 WILL have UMD," he challenged.

Perry's sticking to his guns then, and a panel of experts also predicted recently that a new PSP would be UMD-free.

The guy should just **** off now and stop interfering with ither people's business.

Chances are the PSP2 won't have a UMD drive, but I doubt people will really care until something is announced to show the PSP2 is coming quite soon. Chances are he's doing a bit of guess work.

I personally hope the PSP2 won't just rely on digital downloads and will have some form of physical media. Who knows.

axl rose wannabe.

I think I remember this guy from Gamesmaster WAAAAY back.

Have to say, you guys may not like what he's doing, but I actually think it's great that some people are asking direct questions, and pressing the matter, with regard to these things. It's often the only way for these companies to actually be honest...

what a ****.

it's not him. your thinking of bandana man. this is ex-Shiny Dave Perry.
i made this mistake last week going off on what a wanker he was, only to find out it was the wrong Dave Perry. but going by the amount of times he's been on this site in the last week and the stuff he's coming out with, i think i'm right in calling him a wanker

axl rose lookalike or uri gellar lookalike?

due to the fact axl rose has a penchant for bandana's i'll say uri gellar, but i've never seen the guy nor do i know whether he can bend spoons with his mind.

what difference does it make if its UMD based or not anyway?!

he should just get on with it and makes some games! UMD or not wont change anything!

this might be fun. going in to the local game store and right in front of me is a cash machine look alike but without the cash dispenser and recipt thing, there is a memory card or usb port or whatever and from there I downlaod whatever games I want to it because NO WAY will Sony really on people having a ps3 or wifi connection and maybe not even a pc. There WILL be an alternative if Dave Perry is right.

how times change. there will probably be lots of muggings too

I think you're talking about Dave 'The Games Animal' Perry from Gamesworld. He was an obnoxious **** in that show tbh.

Dave Perry is someone I've actually met at a Queens University 'Dragonslayers' event a couple years back, and he's a very very nice guy who is very intelligent. I think this rant has been brought on by his own dislike of UMD and you know what? I'd back him. UMD is a useless format that did nothing to boost Sony's reputation, only to stifle it. Memory sticks or DLG are the way to go. I hear alot of ******** and bad mouthing, but you know what; have a drop, an ounce, a smidge of goddamned respect, this guy created Earthworm Jim and MDK for gods sake.

Go on Perry my son , give it to them tight !! .

Would be funny if he has it totally wrong though ^^

Simple UMD's have 1.8gb of space why not change to a memory card they go up to 16gb think of the games that could go on that. And the saving on the power unit,2 READ IT 2 joysticks and a slight hand grip change and you could have the whole world in you hands.
