Your like me then CVG, glass half full and all that  . I dont think we will see Mr Wake at GDC even though I want them too badly, although I will cry if we dont see anything of the game by E3. **** a reveal. It would be awesome if these notes kept appearing on the net and then bam released no fanfare no big hype machine. not that it needs one.
Just have it appear on the listings for being released and that be it. don't even send reviewers copys. just let it loose on the gaming public like some kind of strange game you have to play. i had no idea you would be in this thread!
all this intrigue is great, i hope they dont give a lot away before its release. the last game i played that i really didn't know much about before playing was bioshock. The one piece of story that I read was a bit about the hitch-hiker and it sent a shiver up my spine. No idea what it would do in-game if I stumbled onto it myself. Brilliant piece of storytelling. I won't spoil it for anyone - you can search CVG for it if you really want.
I've been stoked about this since it was announced. Remedy have a great reputation for telling a good story with interesting characters. I hope they can bring a good amount of psychological horror to that too.
Will keep me satisfied until Max Payne 3 anyway :) What are you trying to say pishers? That I have nothing better to do with my time than search the web looking for any any bits of info about Alan Wake?
*Runs away, knowing that my plan has been busted*
Just dont tell my bosses pishers, eh  ? I love the fact that this game has been discussed to death on the forums since it was first revealed - yet, Remedy have actually given very little away about it. The only real hype is with the public and due to the developers' reputation.
I'm hoping that these little snippets mean that it's practically finished and that we can expect it relatively soon - I'm genuinely getting the feeling that it could be very special indeed. Sure, it's taken a long time - but I'm hoping that can only mean a better end-product.
As ever, I'll reserve judgement until the reviews arrive....but, I'm looking forward to this one.
:) I so want this game to be good, I will start to worry if we do not see a playable demo before release, after all I think we deserve one. Now if only MS would be willing to incorporate the reality they already appear to have accepted - which is that the adoption rate of Vista has not been what they hoped for (as evidenced by their new push to release Windows 7 which by all accounts is a refined version of Vista) - and release "Alan Wake" for XP users too (which incidentally has a larger user base than Vista apparently). It's the epitome of brash and arrogant foolishness to insist on releasing it only for Vista operating systems if you are interested in maximizing profits by reaching out to the largest shares of the market which in this case would still be XP users. Honestly, I hope we don't get a demo. This is one game I'd rather play without the preconceived ideas that a demo would give me.
This sounds awesome.
Though can you have an exclusive appearing on 2 formats? Isn't it time they stopped referring to this as a PC and 360 exclusive? *shrug* they might as well drop the whole PC/360 exclusive thing and just refer to them as MS exclusives. Its the same damn comapny and they always appear on both formats eventually. I agree that there should be no demo. I won't even watch the videos, as I don't want anything to be spoiled for me. Fingers crossed this lives up to the anticipation!
And agreed, they should drop the "exclusive" tag, maybe "console exclusive" would make more sense!
@KFD...you're right, there are more registered versions of Windows XP out there so to make this and other PC game titles "Vista only" is Microsoft just cutting off their nose to spite their face!
Also, I work for the largest distributor of PC hardware & software in Europe and I'd estimate that around 60-70% of the machines we supply have the end-user requesting a downgrade from Vista to XP. Xbox 360 exclusive?
ARGH! It isn't as it is coming to PC too - Imbecile CVG! It's not their fault. That's MS marketing for you. Anyway, we should all know by now that they mean Console exclusive. None of the console manufacturers refer to the PC when boasting about their relevant product. Well you wouldn't have to download it if it ever happened (which I highly doubt). Thats assuming you could prevent yourself from being like a kid at Xmas if the demo did ever appear? |
