This sort of thing needs to be stamped out. typical crappy US patents, how can you patent that? may as well be patenting "method for entering motorized vehicle using hinged apparatus" Surely
Is at its most basic Text Messages and I'm sure someone would have patented that before 2001... Corbet Wall (2001) should be suing the US Patent Office (2003) for that one, then the winner suing whoever is left standing after that. It's all nonsense. My thoughts exactly. They may agrue that that is text data rather than audio visual.
However I don't see how this is different from Xbox live. My 360 is connected via wireless to my router so surely the only difference is that I can't really play the 360 while holding it. I find it hard to believe that there is a difference just because one is a handheld unit. What about iPhone? Or even Laptops!
I presume this is a software patent which if true makes me real angry. As a software developer myself I completely disagree with software patents. I also can't find a website for Wall Wireless LLC which suggests that they have no products at all, which in turn suggests that they are just patent trolls.
There should be a law that states that unless you actually have a product in development or for sale then your patent invalidates itself after 12 months. Patents are there to protect innovators not to hinder innovation and progress. There should also be a limit to the time you have to file infringement. The DS has been out for a good few years, they can't say that they have only just noticed it infringes their patent! Why do stupid companies come out with lame s*** like this? And its not like these systems and devices haven't been around long enough already
Stupid f***ing Yanks :roll: These stories and the companies concerned piss me off more than any ****ing fanboy ranting. Where have these people been; how long have the DS and PSP been out now?? I also don't see how they (the DS and PSP) can have possibly affected these guys business, profits, whatever. It does seem to be part of the 'something for nothing,' compensation- culture of the US, I just hope they and all the other trolls have their respective cases dismissed with prejudice. Every time a frivolous claim like this is (innevitably) laughed out of court, the claimant should be forced to pay the defendants the same amount of money they were suing for.
*That* would soon stop this crap. I think I'm going to deal with this article using my "method and apparatus for the removal of waste material from the body by means of water" patent. I feel it's the best place for it really. Scumbag money grabbers Texas Don't you mean Homebase? |
