German publisher dtp has announced a prequel to the German game that won the "Best German RPG 2008" award at the German Developer Awards. And as we know, Germans know a good PC game when they see one...
Drakensang: The River Of Time, prequel to original game The Dark Eye which was released in the UK last month, is headed for PC in early 2010.
"Fans of Drakensang and RPGs get exactly what they want: A new story in the embosomed Drakensang universe, bringing as much innovations as tried and true game elements", describes developer Radon Labs, who're also German.
"We continue the success story of Drakensang. The Dark Eye players can look forward to another precise realization of their favorite RPG system. Those players who will experience The Dark Eye for the first time won't miss a thing and can just start right into the fascinating medieval RPG fantasy scenario of Drakensang: The River Of Time", Markus Windelen, COO of dtp added.
More info is promised soon, so fans of German RPGs will have to make do with this single screenshot.
With the current state of affairs of video games in Germany, I fully expect this game to feature rubber mallets, pillow fights, and pacifistic magical spells rather than the traditional swords, bows, and fireballs :P.
