Ubisoft takes on Wheelman publishing duties

Following Midway's recent Chapter 11 filing...
In the wake of Midway's Chapter 11 filing, the company announced that Paris, France-based Ubisoft will be publishing the upcoming open-world game, Wheelman, confirming earlier rumors.

The companies said that Midway will still direct development of the game--which features actor Vin Diesel's voice and likeness--and will also retain all future rights to the franchise.

Ubisoft will handle sales, marketing and distribution of Wheelman in North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland and the U.K. Midway will sell the game in all other European territories.

Wheelman is slated for release on March 24 in North America and March 27 in Europe for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Midway said it plans to release a pre-launch demo of the game.

Midway CEO Matt Booty said that Ubisoft's decision to co-publish the game is a "validation of Wheelman's potential" in the marketplace.
