Beat Street Fighter champ, win TV

UK's Street Fighter champ taking challengers in London this Friday
The UK's "premier" Street Fighter IV player, Zak Bennet will be taking on challengers in London this Friday - and the first person who manages to beat the champ will win a 48" telly.

To celebrate the release of the excellent SFIV this Friday (read our review here), Capcom and Bennet will be holding a Guinness World Records attempt at HMV on Oxford street, for the most consecutive wins in the fourth game. Seeming as it's not out yet, we're confident he'll break the record.

Guinness World Records reps will be present at the venue, adjudicating Bennet's feat as he takes on row after row of contenders - and the first to beat him and ruin the record attempt will be rewarded with a massive 48" TV and home cinema surround sound system.

Apparently the number of minimum consecutive wins that Bennet needs to the record is ten, and the win streak cannot exceed four hours of play.

Fancy your chances?

Chances of me not winning this are about the same as 'daily/crimbo' getting banned (again) tomorrow.

EDIT: Damn typing to quickly, missing out important words. Ive actually seen some vids of people playing this ... and ... they are good ... really good.

I'd laugh so much if the first person he played beat him. Winner stays on :P

What happens if the poor guy/girl is just having a bad day? - they could end up having to give away a lot of TV's.

Looking forward to getting my copy in the post tomorrow :D

I'll go, hummer the A button and see if that works!

If only, my friend. According to the article it will be "the first" challenger to defeat the champ and ruin the record. After that I suspect it's over since the record attempt will have ended. Couple that with the statement that the attempt may not last longer than four consecutive hours and time is not on your side. :)

If anyone is even remotely clued up about the fighting game scene in the UK will know, this guy is seriously good.

I doubt anyone will beat this guy.
You can cacth him down Trocodero on fridays and saturdays handing everyone their asses.

So yeah, good luck who ever even trys.

Zak's Sagat is supposed to be siiiiiick. I THINK I read he'd had an 80 or so streak down the Troc.

More people should do stuff like that. Back in the day I kicked some serious ass at SF2 Turbo and Killer Instinct. I'd have loved a chance to try my luck against the best players around.

Can't wait to get my hands on this. Just hope the online play doesn't lag to hell.

84 win streak.

Do you think you could win the TV id you challenged the Guy to an actual Street Fight. I think i'd have a better chance than on SF IV. Guy sounds damn good.

That is very cool - no surprise though, there are some seriously skilled SF players out there.

Is Sagat his main 'weapon of choice'? - if so, that's also very cool....always loved Sagat.

:)

Yeah i think so, thats who i have always seen him use anyway.
What really kills it, is he only stopped that 84 win streak, as he wanted to go get some food. So who knows how high it could have gone.

I suppose it shouldn't surprise me - but, I always figured the top SF players would use Ryu or Ken...not sure why.

Still, he sounds like a great player - good luck to anyone that's going to take him on!

Taking the fight to the streets with SFIV.

If your're in the West End on the weekend around 7pm look out for the TagAdWagon/Capcom Streetfighter IV demo vehicle in the Leicester Sq area and later in Islington and Shoreditch. You'll be able to play for free and we'll be running a competition to win an Xbox360.

Bring your skills to the fore and see you there....?

Ha, colour me suprised, the best player in the country uses the character that is top of every ranking tier...

I hope somebody beats him with Vega.
