EA Sports does Wii Cricket?

Listing appears on Aussie classification site
EA Sports could be about to unveil an all-new Cricket game, if a listing on the Aussie classification website is anything to go by (and it usually it is).

A listing for oddly titled 'Cricket 9' is the cause of the commotion, accredited to Electronic Arts in Canada, which was responsible for the great NHL and FIFA games of last year.

A platform for the title, as you can see from the pic to the left, isn't specified. But already speculation has mounted that it could be headed to Wii.

Balance Board and Wii Remote batting isn't really our thing but a certain, grey-haired, member of the team would undoubtedly go gaga for the chance to look silly with a plastic cricket bat - and many members of the public too.

We've contacted Electronic Arts UK for comment and will let you know what it has to say.

Thanks, NeoGAF.

Wii Cricket... About F^%$^%$ING time! Never has a platform been so suited to a game that ahsn't been made.

Honestly, sometimes I think my Nan could run Nintendo better than Nintendo run it. Please let it be a proper cricket game, with online and tournaments, leagues and whatever and lovely 1 on 1 batting and bowling control.

Well if you look carefully enough it says quite clearly "Multi-platform", so that means multiple platforms. Could be Xbox 360 and PS3 for all you know.

Beach Sports had Cricket :D

For 1 to 1 control, it's really going to have to use Wii MotionPlus. I'm intrigued to see how they manage to get an accurate representation of spin bowling in there! Performing a googly on a Wiimote can't be easy!!

That's a somewhat dumb comment, "My Nan could run Nintendo better" when its EA who are responsible for the game. I think ninty are running themselves pretty well considering they have the best selling home console & portable console i.e. Wii & DS and are making billions of dollars (pounds or euros if you prefer). Hell how much better can you run it?

Not sure about this. Cricket would be ideally suited to Wii, but I've got little faith in EA as developers after playing Tiger Woods and FIFA on Wii - they sucked. Wait n' see.

This is what I've been waiting to hear since the Wii came out. Playing baseball on the wii for the first time my mind started to race.. all the possibilities.. the spin bowling, cutting thin edges and getting your arms around a six. Could be brilliant, cautious optimism?
