Harmonix sues Konami over Rock Revolution

Rock Band dev seeks to block sales of rival music game
Rock Band developer Harmonix is suing Konami, alleging that the Japanese firm's Rock Revolution violates a patent for game controllers that simulate musical instruments.

Harmonix's complaint seeks to block sales of Rock Revolution, plus the developer wants cash compensation.

If this story sounds familiar, it's because last year Konami sued Harmonix over Rock Band for allegedly infringing upon two of its patents for simulating musical instruments. That case has yet to be settled.

It all sounds like a needless catfight and waste of time to us, but then we don't make plastic guitars.

How interesting. Wonder who will win the court case. To be fair though does GH not use the same concept?

I think Konami have just a little bit more of a case considering they started making rythum games way before harmonix showed up.

Plus Nintendo Released the Bongos ages ago and Sega obviously had the Maraccas for Samba De Amigo. How do these patents ever get passed.....?

Surely it's a gameplay element type thing. Does Rock Revolution not use wither GH or RB guitars? Don't think it comes with one of it's own.
And GH uses the same concept, but it was Harmonix who first developed GH then went onto EA and RB.

They would?! Wow that is something new that i learned. Anyway lol dont act suprised that they aint going against activision. They both got the top music series games and since their hardware goes hand in hand(you knwo i can use the drums from WT on RB2 and vice versa) so why go agaisnt someone you actually got support from. Oh yeah backstabbing and screwing their market stocks to become the monopoly.
