you dirty old man Regardless of what anybody says about the demo, this game is still my most anticipated game of this current generation. This is a tough one, the graphics look amazing and it looks like it should be a cool game but the demo didn't do it any justice at all. I played the Demo last night and was very impressed by the graphics and environment, however when compared to RE4+ on the Wii the controls feel very awkward. I wish this was coming to Wii as I would gladly sacrifice graphics for the RE4+ controls. I have no idea why this game has come in for so much stick, RE4 was my favourite game last gen and this looks to be even better.
Bring it on. I was really looking forward to RE5 until the demo. Forcing the player to stop while aiming feels like an artificial and unrealistic method of creating tension. As pretty as it may be I prefer the atmosphere in Dead Space, which doesn't suffer from the aiming/movement restrictions of RE. I was hoping for an evolution of RE4 which was great in 2005 but so far RE5 just feels like RE4 with a lick of HD paint. I might be very wrong about that but so far so RE4.5, I hope I am proved wrong, ^This.
I hear ya man. Aiming feels sluggish and twitchy compared to RE4 Wii, I'll just have to get used to it again. Did you play the demo of Dead Space though? I thought it was terrible. The actual game however was bloody brilliant - one of, of not THE favourite game of last year for me. Possibly because once you have played RE4+ and experienced it's sublime controls RE5 feels like a step back to last gen. I imagine it is like going back to a VCR once you have experienced a DVR. I haven't played RE4 on the Wii, just the GC and PS2. I agree the controls on the RE5 demo do feel dated. Moving whilst aiming/shooting is standard in this generation, Gears, Uncharted, Mass Effect and Fallout 3 all have it, why does RE5 have to be difficult? lee, you hit the nail on the head. the wii version of resi 4 was faultless. superb rich graphics, huge, huge game and the perfect controls. the ps3 demo wasn't a touch on resi 4 and just didn't feel like a resi game. Play the demo, and then ask that question. You'll be answering yourself with all the faults you'd find with it.
If looks can be decieving then this is the Lady Macbeth of games, it looks incredible which sort of says 'I'll be great' but then when you actually get to PLAYING the game, that's when it all falls apart into the lie that it actually is.
First off, this is an action game- it's not Resident Evil in much much more a way than RE4 wasn't. RE4 at least had a certain atmosphere, a certain suspence and urgency- this game seems to contain no real horror elements at all, no tension, no atmosphere, bland characters so far, unscary and frankly much too easy boss monsters (Quickscope Headshots with the sniper rifle and down they go in a few seconds.) there's no URGENCY to it, it's slow, plodding, copy pasted drivel that takes most of what was good about Resi 4, ties lead weights to it's feet and chucks it in a river. It's truly dire. It's Gears 2 without the fun. Worthless. the demo was pretty bad.. the controls feel so outdated.. very unnatural to stop and shoot nowadays.. I'm on the fence.. will see what the reviews say... what am I saying.. I'll buy this game and put up with the dodgy controls. »
 I bet Crimbo's heart fluttered for a moment! I don't see anything in RE5 that the Wii can't handle - worse graphics: sure, less zombies: with out doubt, superiour handling: you bet!!
Give it a year or two and we will be playing this on the Wii also ... I would be happy to leave my Wii hibernating in a box just for that day! I don't get why everyone is giving out about the controls. They were trying to keep the shooting side of things the same as all the other games and the tension of it aswell and if I can remember them games correctly they have done that.
Plus if ye loved the other games ye shouldn't be giving out about the shooting side of things However once you have played RE4+ you will understand how good these controls can be when done on the Wii and then how last gen and awkward they seem on RE5. I know where your coming from. I almost didn't bother with deadspace after playing the demo. Strangely enough it was the group of guys on this site (your goodself included) that made me give it a whirl. I have to say. It's ****ing ace. definately one of the best games i've ever played.
The demo for Resi 5 had a similar feel to me. It didn't do the game any favours and i've loved every resi since playing the original on the saturn. Yeah its changed a bit but if it was still the same as it was 12 years ago you'd all be complaining alot harder i assure you.
I do agree that the controls do work a hell of a lot better on the wii though. Considering deadspace is a very similar game controlwise. I wouldn't be surprised if the wii version control wise beat the crap out of the 360 version. I know they are pretty out dated and should be move and shoot at the same time but they probably wanted it to be more tense like the others. I have played and finished RE 4 for PS2 and i liked it and I liked the RE 5 demo but that's my opinion.
As for the Wii version I can't comment on it as I never played it on the Wii but I do own a Wii so I might try it :P But you got to remember the Wii has totally different controllers to the PS3 and XBox 360 :P These screens at least look sort of like an RE Game. However I dont think I will be buying the game after playing the absolutely rubbish demo. And this is coming from a HUGE RE fan. Yes, but aiming and shooting just feels much more satisfying in the Wii version of the RE4 compared to the other versions, I've been playing alot of RE4 Wii lately, and after playing the RE5 demo it's more apparent to me now how better the Wii's controls are for precision aiming in a game like this. I'd love to see a Wii version, I'd buy this game twice. If Dead Space can come to Wii, RE5 can come to Wii, I'd happily trade HD graphics for a more fun and satisfying control system. It's RE4 but spruced up. What's not to love? the resi evil 5 demo, although short, was a proper little teaser. cant wait to get the full game, and only amonth to go! little nobs givin it the old 'was really lookin forward to it, but after the demo i'm deeply disappointed' jibba jabba need to quieten it until they've played the game. now bring the rain! Some of the children here need to shut the fu*k up, please. This is a Resident Evil game. Having played this series before some people here were old enough to read a book, I can say I was impressed by the demo and will be looking forward to playing the game.
Do not complain about the control system. If you complain about the fact that you can't move and shoot at the same time just do us all a favour and shut up. Get your head out of the band wagon's arse. If you all don't shut the fu*k up, CAPCOM might feel, stupidly, obliged to cater to your pathetic and infantile needs and royally screw Resident Evil 6 by adding more explosions and, gasp, the coveted ability to shoot and walk like 5 other completely-unrelated-and-in-a-different-genre games (what has Gears of War got in common with RE5? Nothing, so shut the fu*k up) »
Pretty much agree with everything you guys said here, especially reguarding Dead Space. The demo was a complete turn off, though after hearing all the possitive comments on this site I gave it a try and was completely blown away. The atmosphere and the utterly amazing set pieces were second to none.
I did find the Resi 5 demo to be pretty good though. I haven't played the single player but playing it split screen and online was fantastic fun. I love the sense of urgency when one of us is close to death and the other has to leg it through the horde to save them!
Convinced me to get the full game anyway :D That's a shame, by reading your post you made yourself out to be an angry 13 year old. Way to go.
On topic, I look forward to the day that they bring this to the Wii and give it the nice controls it deserves. Yes oh fearless leader.....
First off, alot of the opinions on here aren't spouting mass amounts of swear words to make the post look 'Xtreeeem!!' so serious minus points there, secondly, it's called opinion- you don't like it, you don't read it, you tuck your tail between your legs and walk away from it. You don't weigh in calling people children, and then proceeding to go verbal like a 13 year old hyperactive Halo player on the mic thereby exposing yourself as a hypocrite. That'd be stupid. Oh.....wait, you just did didn't you?
THEY ALREADY ARE adding more explosions, more action oriented story, and the very CONTROL SYSTEM has been inspired by Gears of War (Interviews with Lead members of the dev team confirmed this on CVG months ago.) what the hell are you talking about?!!!! The only things you can't do the same as in Gears are Dodge Roll and Move/Strafe while shooting.
Take the dark glasses off and open your EYES!! This is NOT a Survival Horror game- this is EXACTLY the genre that Gears is in, the Action Adventure/Third Person Shooter genre.
