This year, I finally fell out of love with Pro Evo after a decade long relationship, full of highs and lows, elation and frustration... I don't know when it started, but the final nail in the coffin was when FIFA actually turned out to be bloody brilliant this season.
Please Konami, please make PES the game it once was again. 2009 was an embarrassment quite frankly when compared to the prettier, better animated, infinitely optioned and completely unfrustrating FIFA. Oh, and scripting in a football game IS NOT COOL. Stop it. konami instead of trying to keep up with the transfers like fifa (which to be fair could be done in edit mode ANYWAY), why not release a patch to make the game PLAYABLE online, its a total ABOMINATION. seriously im not just having a rant about this, it really is so terrible that you can barely play it. whats the point of updating a broken game? Rants aside, its a step in the right direction for konami.. yeah agreed whats the point in updating a broken game?really thought after last year they would have made a real effort to fix the online but no did they ****!! I love PES 2009! Think its the best Pro Evo in years! and can't see why people are disapointmented with it! Fair enough the online is crap! but nobody had online when it was on the PS2 back in the day! so why has it changed your opinions now? the gameplay is much better then it has ever been! I'm looking forward to the update! actually i used to play the last gen pro evos on the PC, which DID have online play. it was quite good, not much lag if u chose someone with decent latency. the ps2 gen pro evos on PC were so good, it had the sublime playability which made PES famous in the first place combined with high res graphics which in fairness, arent much worse in detail than the 360 games of today the real question is when will the transfers be updated on Fifa? I still think it plays well, but they've hardly added anything to it compared to 2008. I switched to FIFA this year as I wouldn't pay more than £10 for a game that could have been released as DLC.
As it stands, I'm not that hopeful for this years edition as Konami have been a bit quiet regarding their plans for the franchise. But I'll buy it if FIFA don't tighten up the controls. There were a few rumblings on the BBC 606 forums that it'd be today. And yet still no mention of PS3 trophies.
I still have a big gripe with CVG for reporting as fact that this game would get them at some point or another.
Sports games are alwasy better with trophies/achievements. I agree, it's annoying me that it says trophies are officially confirmed. They would give me a reason to play the game, as I'm not at the moment.
I am glad that Konami are starting to listen, now for the animations, master league, online and licences... This is terrible news. The Transfer Window shut 5 days ago, why the hell is it going to take a month to update a few transfers? Don't get me started on the scripting of the game, I still find it ludicrous!
PES 2010(?) really needs to be revamped as it's really starting to lose its appeal and the lack of PS3 trophies is a joke seeing as the 360 has achievements for it and I just can't play footy games with the 360 controller! GIVE ME MY TROPHIES!!! PES 2009 may be awful online (especially the registration and Konami's logging in) - but if you make sure you only join people with the green healthy connection light, and avoid the reds, there is no lag at all and it plays really well. I never played 2008 online but im sure this one is much better. I personally welcome this update! Man City will be statistically like the new Barcelona by the end of the summer transfer window! |
