I know there saying they wont but I do expect Sony to have a price drop before the Summer and will look forward to KZ2 then. I am really tempted to pick up a PS3 at some point. Like StonecoldMC, I'll hold off a little while also. I have enough in my life to keep me busy at the moment anyway :) In theory that only makes the PS3 itself £260. not so bad an offer. but i think most people that don't already have one are still waiting for it to hit the sub £200 mark. WOW cardboardarific! If this was £250 I reckon it would sell really well.
£300 is an OK price but it won't gain that much sales. Only way I can see it keeping its £300 price point and selling loads is if this bundle continues, but something like LBP is thrown in as well so you get 2 games synonymous with the PlayStation Brand, and an 80GB for £300.
Oh well, that won't be happening. :P go to HMV and they'll do you a bundle for £300 with 2 top titles and a blue ray plus extra controller.

There are so many complaints about prices but really there are some great deals about that theoretically make it much cheaper than £299 for the console
for example i'd imagine this bundle will be released, but some stores will make their own bundles out of it also a question for the non ps3 owners. Would you buy one at 200 quid? it would have sold more if the console came with the Special Edition of Killzone 2, or else some Killzone-themed console cover. Sure.
I would pick one up as cheap as I can with no games at all. It's easy for me to borrow a couple of some friends until the next month, then get myself a game next payday. I wonder if they'll actually advertise this. :roll: Looks pretty sweet. I like the colour.
But what Sony need to do is actually advertise this game. I mean I can't remember seeing a single advert on TV for Resistence 2. As I already own a 360, no. I don't see the point in owning both I don't have enough time to play anymore and I'm happy with the 360.
If I didn't have a 360, I'm not sure. As I have no need for wireless and BR, I would probably take the 60GB 360 as it's still cheaper, the HDD is big enough for installing games and for me the existing games are better.
However, if my router was miles away from a HDTV, it would be very close. Watch the trailers:-

Considering that Killzone 2 has been in development for 5 or so years it hardly looks like the AAA title to show how superior the PS3 is.
And lets be honest, the original Killzone was touted as a Halo rival and it failed spectacularly.
PS3 and Xbox360 are close with their graphical capability and 360 is on paper the better gpu, so, it's a close fight really. The game has been in development for five years, but I guess the issue has been getting to grips with the PS3 hardware, which it looks like it's done very well.
Certain parts remind me of GoW though! The "Good to go" when being revived and the cover system to some degree. But hey, gaming's always about evolution and it's hardly a rip off!
It's pretty hard to tell which looks better when viewing compressed flash videos (that and Firefox seems to play every flash video as jerky as hell). From the two videos linked, I would have to say the colours seem deeper and richer on KZ2 than GoW2 (then again it looked like the contrast/brightness settings on the two videos were completely different). Either way the differences are very subtle, much more so than the old MD v SNES comparisons! The Killzone 2 vid in in High Def whereas the Gears of War vid is in very low def.

Killzone looks obviously nothing like the CGI movies that Sony released a few years ago to show us the power of the PS3. anyone holding off for a £425 console to go "sub-£200" just 2 years after release is a tight *******. this isnt a 360. the tag is justified. its already dropped £125 not that long ago! I'm sure the original Killzone used a sort of cover system during the more epic fire fights. I believe that to have come out several years before Gears of War. So who's borrowing from who? |
