Almost makes me consider buying a PS3 for a split second...but only almost. A subsidy of Sony created SecuROM and for that they will remain on my black list until such a time as it is no longer with us. Besides, the PS3 pricing is more than I'm willing to pay, nevermind that I can afford it.
Anyone know if a PC port might ever see the light of day for this title? Are you flirting with me, KZ? Ya little minx! Come to papa!!!
I must say that the lighting and shadows are the best I have seen on PS3. A generic look is fine as long as it's actually fun to play, and the reports so far for KZ2 say "win".
It's definitely one I'm waiting for some reviews of.
And because it's a Sony published game, it's doubtful it'll ever come out on PC. And I don't know how well porting from Cell to other chips is likely to work. Seen those shots ages ago.

Starting to think the bring back blue sky campain might have something to it after all.
It would probably be possible and not too difficult for it to be ported to the PC. However i doubt it will as it's sony develpoed. Would of had a much greater chance if MS had never gotten into the console market. I read a review of Resistance 2 and the reviewer seriously marked down the game for being too colourful. He complained that Orick level in R2 was too pretty and had sunlight streaming through the trees in a warzone. In his summary he stated that game was too colourful to be taken seriously as a shooter.
I guess you can't please everyone. I guess Killzone 2's a bit like softcore porn; nothing you haven't seen before but that doesn't stop you from wanting to shag it and then feel slightly guilty afterwards. Guerrila have already stated they wont be developing it for the PC. Saying that I think Sony would be mad not to allow it onto the PC 6 months after release.
I'd be more interested in seeing what Guerrila do with the game engine next. It blows the Unreal engine out of the water and I would love to see them licencing it out to other developers. While I know this will more than likely cause PS3 fanboys to virtually batter me I still need to say it...
I'm a 360 fanboy and have owned the 360 and original Xbox since launch. I bought myself a PS3 at the weekend primarily as a Blu Ray player but also to play the PS3 exclusives. Whilest I'm impressed with the games I've played so far (Motor Storm 2 and Little Big Planet) I haven't seen anything ground breaking or that has blown me away. There isn't any (judging by the demos, trailers, reviews) games that compare AT ALL to the graphical standard of Gears or to the awesome gameplay of Halo.
With the online play you get what you pay for. I Little Big Planet was laggy as hell, no one spoke, there was no real sense of community and playing games without getting achievements is just plain weird.
As a gaming console the PS3 is a bit lame. There are very few exclusives and when multi-format titles come out they are more often than not released after the 360 version. Sometimes weeks after (Sonic) sometimes years (Bioshock, Eternal Sonata) with very few improvements.
If I only had a PS3 to play my games on I think I'd cry. However, having one along side a 360 is quite nice as I get the best of both worlds! (The Wii is a womans console so I don't need it. I don't like playing mini games).
Anyway, what games do PS3 owners recommened I try out to really be blown away? it would be stupid to release it on PC, what would be the point of buying a ps3 if its top exclusives came out on pc, looking better no doubt. thats part of the 360's problem @Robzy1990
If you approach it with fanboy comparisons in mind you'll never see anything. LBP is a stunning example. The textures are amazing, the game mechanic is flawless, the ability to create your own working machines is brilliant. If you weren't blown away by that then you have no soul.
And I've never experienced any lag, so it's either you or you connected to someone with a crap connection.
Graphically there's practically no difference between the two consoles, it's all about how each developer chooses to use it. Ports tend to look better on one because you can't optimise fully for both systems.
The only problem I have with the PS3 in comparison with the 360 is the DS3 isn't as comfortable or hand-fitting as the 360 pad. Robzy, there is nothing wrong with not being blown away by anything! I also own both machines and have to say that I haven't been blown away by either machine as of yet.
As far as achievements go, I am a bit baffled by your comment, as both Motorstorm 2 and LBP have trophies to collect. And the lag (LBP) is more down to bad connections as I have experienced it myself, though most of the time it has been fine with friends - it seems that when random people jump into games it can go a bit loopy. I am sure it will be sorted in a future patch.
To play something to impress, I would recommend either MGS4 or Uncharted. Both are quality games, but it does depend on what you are into. Uncharted plays very much like Gears with a touch of puzzling thrown in, so it may be up your alley.

Gotta say though as an owner of both, you are pretty much right, so far (game-wise) there really isn't anything that sets it apart from the 360, apart from the sound quality - it is way better for games, movies and music on the PS3.
Reccomendations - for me these are must-have (& pretty cheap)
*Metal Gear Solid 4
*Unchartered Drakes Fortune
*Ratchet & Klank Wipeout HD and if you want something totally different try Linger in Shadows. Go into the forums, there's lists upon lists in there.
Take it what ever way you want but I own a 360 as well and have to be 'blown away' by anything on it. It general terms the 'next generation' has been a let down. (not a reference to Star Trek either :? ) Simply for money, no other reasons. Release it as a blu ray disc only as well. i dont know about it being that much better than UE3, both gears and gears 2 look pretty good. the engine does more than just graphics so we will have to use it truly make a comparison. another point is that ue3 is quite a bit older and cross platform where as this works solely on the ps3.
having said that it would be nice for a different range of engines to be used as ue3 seems to dominate at the moment. Hah, and that was one thing that impressed me with Halo 3 - when I first saw the light streaming through the trees I was definitely 'wowed'.
And perhaps it's my imagination, but these KX2 screens look a lot less drab than they did previously. It's all good. Im the same as you as i have both consoles and i play mostly on the 360 but you should try drakes fortune a great game and looks stunning and maybe heavenly sword that looks sweet too and is quite funny esp the main baddy lol metal gear solid while looks great didnt light my fire like some people raved about but maybe pick it up for cheap .

If he is telling the truth though, Uncharted, Resistance 2 and Gran Turismo Prolouge really show off what the PS3 can do.
I too have both a 360 and PS3 and to be honest I havent switched my 360 on for over a fortnight, so I guess Im bucking the trend at the moment. Its mainly cos the Resistance 2 co op is so good.
Killzone 2 is looking excellent aswell, it just looks like the sci fi COD many people were talking about. I'm finding it hard to not get a little hyped about this game, especially since I liked the first one.
Visually this game looks brilliant. And from gameplay videos it looks like a futuristic Call of Duty which is also good. Especially because futuristic here doesn't mean aliens. if it allows for keyboard/mouse controls i will buy..otherwise...i'll avoid like aids depends on your definition of alien, on wiki the helghast are described as "the Helghast are a faction of human descendants who colonized the planet Helghan many generations ago. The planet's harsh environment forced the Helghast to adapt and mutate so much that they can no longer be considered human." of course you will get mouse/keyboard controls really looking forward to this, roll on the end of febuary!!!!! :D :D :D I don't like the idea of playing against key/mouse users on a console. I still say that it's the best combo, but it does give those players an advantage over everyone else and the lack of hardware advantages is one of the main reasons I like console gaming. I enjoyed the first Killzone game. It had its share of issues, but I thought it was a solid shooter. I've been rather looking forward to KZ2 for a while.
As for Robzy, you're complaining about PS3 fanboys while approaching the debate from a totally 360 fanboy perspective. Owning both the PS3 and a 360 I think I like both consoles equally. Uncharted is one example I can think of which really does showcase the system. Visually it looks stunning and I throughly enjoyed the plot and gameplay. Definately looking forward to the sequal.
If I was going to recommend one console to a friend purely for games, it'd be the 360 due to the bigger library of games. but the 360 has had another year in the market than the PS3. I believe they made the point at E3 this year that in June the PS3 had been out 18 months. At that point in the console's lifespan the 360 didn't have games like Halo 3 which people now point to as a defining game of the console. The PS3 will gain strength as some more of these big titles come out, as I'm sure the 360 will still do well.
Can't say I've ever noticed a massive difference in quality between PSN and XBL, myself. And from January Sony will be stating that all new games need Trophy support, so achievements will be there in PS3 games for those who set massive score by them.
In short, if you're looking for some games to look into, try the demos of Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted, as they're brilliant. I personally didn't buy MGS4 as MGS2 and 3 put me off the series, and I'm not a fan of massive cutscenes depicting sections of action I should be playing, but it's also supposed to be a defining game. I also got Resistance 2 recently, which is a better game than the first (I still enjoyed R:FoM, especially Co-op), and 2 is a competent, if not quite outstanding, shooter.
For multiplayer you can't beat a bit of Warhawk. Third Person shooter with the emphasis on vechicles and planes on Battlefield-esque control point maps, and it looks lovely, given it's cheaper than full price games and is available in a box or as a direct download from PSN. thats rediculous. Its like marking down gears for having snow in it. Just because there's a war on doesn't mean that it can't be sunny and the woods your marching through still be pretty.
Pah. To who ever said I didn't own both machines, I do. I know both the games I own have trophies but what I meant was it doesn't add to my over all gamerscore on the 360. (After earning over 40,000 gamerpoints it has become a bit of an addiction).
My internet connection is 10mb/s which is fine for every game I've played on the 360. I guess I'll put the lag down to the other players on LBP.

I think I'll buy Ninja Gaiden next. Not that it will blow me away or anything (I heard it's not to great). I just want it because I love Dead Or Alive and Ninja Gaiden! :D
I appreciate not being flamed for the previous post and I admit that I am looking at it from a 360 fanboy point of few. I have been playing Xboxes since the launch of the first one after all! Ninja Gaiden on the PS3 is the best version of any Ninja Gaiden out there, including the recent 360 follow up. And it looks lovely at 1080p 60 fps. If that doesn't impress you, then nothing will! It's a level thing on the PS3 not a gamer scorer. The more trophies you get the higher a level you become. Basically the same thing as gamerscore but it's there. No what he is saying is he is such an achievement whore he feels like he is wasting time on his PS3 rather than increasing is gamer score on 360. »
