All activities are free of charge and take place in the Sculpture Garden. Visit the information desk in the Sculpture Garden on the day for copies of the program, children’s trails and any enquiries. Please note: children need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Creative activities
- Easel does it (grass area)
Create colourful paintings at the easels provided under the trees - Frozen figures (paved area)
Draw from the big, bronze and lead lifelike sculptures – they won’t move - Come clay with me (grass area)
Play with clay and make unique sculptures to take home - Funky junk (gravel area)
Transform everyday materials into fantastic sculpture - Fern garden frottage (Fern Garden)
Explore the amazing textures in the Fern Garden (ask Gallery staff for directions)
Drop-in workshops are designed for children aged 3–12 years old but all are welcome. Numbers are restricted for the smooth running of the workshop and the safety of children and works of art. Activities are facilitated by Gallery voluntary guides and educators.
Sculpture Garden Children’s trail
Collect a pencil and booklet from the information desk and have fun exploring the Sculpture Garden for the remainder of the day.
Food
- If you haven’t brought a picnic, enjoy the sausage sizzle and support the Isabella Plains Scouts
- Coffee cart
- nga café and Members’ Lounge indoors
Safety in the Sculpture Garden
To keep your family and the works of art safe, please:
- supervise your children at all times
- enjoy looking at the sculptures without touching them
- keep art materials within the workshop area and at a safe distance from the sculptures
- first aid and sunscreen available at the information desk
Photography
Photography is permitted in the Sculpture Garden (but without using a flash or tripod).
Your child may be photographed during the course of this event by an official Gallery or press photographer who will request your permission. Photographs are used in Gallery publications and promotional material without the insertion of names.
