  • probably from the set of books made for Pius IV (1499-1565) and Pius V (1504-1572) for the Sistine Chapel;

  • possibly looted after the French invasion of Rome in 1798, then dismembered;

  • (possibly with Abate Luigi Celotti (c.1768-c.1846), by whom sold at auction, Celotti sale, Christie's London, 26 May 1825, when possibly bought by Sir Thomas Phillipps (1792-1872));
