The triumph of landscape

During the nineteenth century, landscape triumphed over other forms of art in Western culture. Turner to Monet presents landscape painting of this period in a new light looking at the transformation from the depiction of known places to explorations of new terrains.

Road closures

From Monday 7 January until 14 March 2008 civil engineering works associated with road safety improvements and major extensions to the National Gallery of Australia will cause temporary road closures and traffic changes. The following roads will be closed:

King Edward Terrace, between Bowen Drive and Parkes Place
Bowen Drive east bound from the intersection of King Edward terrace
Dorothy Tangney Place at the intersection of King Edward terrace and
King Edward Terrace exit road from Kings Avenue.
