Can I send you a game to review?
Yes, GameWyrd does accept freebies for reviews. However, the Wyrdmaster lurks in Scotland and the extra coupe of bucks of P&P on the shipping cost tends to put most small companies off the effort. If your game has a .pdf edition then we can review that but unfortunately we do not believe it is fair to review a book based on highlights from a product that have been sent to us via email.
Do you just pick games doing well in the WyrdRanks for reviews?
No. As it happens games that are reviewed tend to get more votes (although not necessarily higher votes) simply because they’ve been given a page of their very own. The WyrdRanks provide the intelligence for the review database too; the publishers, the series to which the game belongs, etc. Games, therefore, need to be in the WyrdRanks before they can be reviewed.
Who are the reviewers?
There are two types of reviewers but we don’t distinguish between them. Any GameWyrd user can submit a review and it’ll appear in the database straight away – we remove substandard ones, or work with the original author to edit and enhance their first attempt. The Wyrdmaster is lucky enough to have a number of friends with experience in the either gaming industry or in professional writing, sometimes both. These people are called on should the GameWyrd mailbag ever overflow with review copies of new releases.
Will you link your review to my site?
We might. If you sent us a freebie to review then we will. If it is possible we will link the purchase options for the book to your preferred merchant as well. Otherwise, if your site is a match for something mentioned in the review then let the Wyrdmaster know about it.
Will you publish two different reviews for the same game?
Yeah, sure.
