Ike warning: flee or face ‘certain death’
|
The warning from forecasters was dire: evacuate or face certain death. That’s the message sent to Texans living in single-family homes along parts of the coast as Hurricane Ike approached. The storm, so big that it fills most of the Gulf of Mexico, is threatening 3.5 million people in its projected path. Four million residents in Houston were also warned to hunker down for a storm that some say could be as devastating as Hurricane Katrina.
