Here are some new shots of PES 2009, giving you a glimpse of some of the off-pitch scenes, and it looks very nice.
Konami sums the game up as "PES Unites". Don't know what that means, but new 'Become a Legend' solo mode is one of biggest new features.
As Konami explains, this "casts the user as a midfielder or striker within a match. Using a default vertical camera view, the player starts as a rookie pro at the start of their career, and charts the many highs and lows of becoming a professional player."
Shove it! I'm getting Fifa this year without a doubt - They (Konami) have had their chance, and well and truly blew it! See ya, wouldn't want to be ya!
sucks so bad again. I dunno where they wanna reach with this series it's always the same game! They have all the money in the world but still... don't even trying to get official team and player rights. we're seeing that bloody stupid meaningless names after all those years. fifa all the way...
Strange how it turns around... I remember only a few years ago that everyone was slating FIFA and saying that they were gonna be buying Pro Evo, now it's the other way around. I'm personally just gonna wait and see which is best!
I think Pro Evo has lost it's way in the last few iterations of the series. Serves them right if they start losing loyal customers to FIFA as that's the one that is actualy improving.
Don't get me wrong, i still think PES plays a decent gam of football, but it's just moved on enough for my liking, and in some areas moved backward.
Konami should really learn to not leave any banana peels in screen shot 9, mainly because someone could slip up and injure themselves or maybe even the players could get injuries.
Unless it is a new feature to allow one player to get an injury or many players to get injuries.
Err Konami as whole have loads of money but as Seabass himself has stated the Pro Evo team is under funded and under staffed even tho it makes Konami millions.
2010 will has a new engine so this is a spit n polish version like most sport games..Fifa has stepped up and good on EA but Konami made them change as EA will make Konami change.
Regarding licences please stop thinking its that easy to get them look at EA and the ESPN brand for Madden, it basically killed off there only competition and EA will in now way relinquish the official licences and they at the end of the day will offer more money due to it being Fifa.
Konami need to have more editing options as people will always do option files so everyones a winner.
As long as the frame-rate is smooth, then this will be the best footy game this year. You just can't beat PES gameplay.
Last years version was the only one that has let me down, so I won't hold a grudge. Unfortunately, Fifa has let me down countless times, so I'm not going to jump on the PES bashing bandwagon. At the same time, I will also give Fifa another chance as I love footy games, though I hope the feel of the real game is apparent in the latest version.
Even taking into account the problems that last years PES clearly had, it was still a more enjoyable and chalenging game of footy than Fifa.
Sorry for the waffle, but I do love my footy! Come on the reds! And come on Berbatov!
Fool, do you know how many chances EA have had at producing one decent FIFA game, it's bin going since the 90's. not buying it because they had one bad year makes you, well, 2nd division.
I wouldn't say that PES 2008 as a football game is a poor version. On 360 and PS3 it's a very shoddy conversion but on PS2 and a decent PC it's excellent, probably my favourite since 4.
I'd heard good things about FIFA 08, got it, and although it's a vast improvement on any FIFA I've played before (all of which I've thought we're horiffic) I felt that EA had gone the absolute opposite of their previous arcade iterations and virtually made it a simulation. Lot's of options, yes, and the football isn't bad, just very slow-paced, and IMO not as good as PES 2008.
No. I prefer the tried and tested approach of deciding which game I should buy based upon a few screen shots. Sod the actual gameplay experience etc, it has got to be an idiotic knee jerk reaction or no reaction at all!!
Well, the demos are on live tomorrow (I believe) - I'll be downloading both, that's for sure.
I don't think PES2008 was all that bad, it just certainly wasn't what any PES fan really wanted and definitely not as good as previous versions - if you're going to release annual editions with slight enhancements, you have to at least make them progressively improve. FIFA is definitely creeping up, but I've always found it to be miles behind PES in a lot of ways (isn't it about time they made it more responsive?).
Still, this could be the first year in a long time that I'm not particularly interested in a football game at all....if I don't see a marked improvement in either, I'll wait and see what they do for PES/FIFA 2010.
Agree with you mostly on that although my biggest bone of contention with '08 was the god awful online mode!! Simply unplayable due to horrendous lag.
This took away the best part of PES for me as you just can't beat the feeling of playing someone online in a decent footy game. PES6 was genuinely good at it so I was gutted when '08 took a serious backwards step on that front.
I've always found fifa to be unresponsive even though it has vastly improved it's overall game in recent years.
Sorry, false alarm - proevonews.co.uk actually states that the rumour of the demo hitting on the 11th is not true (both FIFA and PES demos released the same day), they say it'll be approximately 3 weeks before release of the full game.
They're also releasing some DLC for PES. It's expected that this will be updated rosters and line-ups after the January transfer window - they'll be charging for that.
it's about time that PES updated the squads during the transfer window, but surely they're not gonna charge you for it. i can see a lot of PS3 customers not even bothering with that if updating MGSonline is anything to go by.
Me neither - let's face it, most of us do that kind of stuff manually (it's not as if an awful lot of players move in January).....if at all, can't say that it really bothers me that much - by that point I'm usually more than stuck in on Master League and happy with the teams as they are. Still, it could be good if certain players are missed out - I know a lot of Sunderland fans were pretty peeved about Kenwyne Jones not being in the last one.
I hope this time PES would really even vaguely resemble a football match. I really doubt it, though. And the screenshots themselves - didn't impress me one bit.
