Pictures of the Carpathian Mountains
One of our kind members sent a website to the list a while back saying it looked interesting, but they did not know what it's about or how to use it.
I figured out how to operate the website, and wrote one of the photographers, asking him to please let me know where the photos were taken. Michal Jaworski let me know that there are about 400 photos of the Carpathian Mountains at this site. They are beautiful photos. For those of you that had or still have family in these mountains, I thought you may enjoy seeing some of the scenery in the Carpathians. It also should be interesting to people that want to see how beautiful it is in these mountains. Each photo tells you where your are located. Some of you may recognize some places in your family history.
This is how I was able to maneuver around the website:
Click on the Indeks (Index) in the top left hand column.
Click on the first link Masyw Tarnicy i Halicza
Next page click on Dolina Wo³osatego z Prze³ Bukowskiej
You will get a beautiful photo of snow in the mountains. There will be red dots on the page. After you view the current photo, click on the dots. What the photographer has done is take you on a trip with his photos. Where the dots are is where the next photo was taken. It's quite a nice concept in traveling via the Internet.
When you are done viewing those sites, click on the "Back" button on your tool bar at the top of your screen on the left. When you get back to the page with the Dolina Wo³osatego z Prze³ Bukowskiej link, go to the next link. He tells you where you are.
This is what he wrote me about his site (below). He does plan to give the directions in English on the site as a result of my request. What I have told you will work. Please go there if you are interested in seeing some beautiful country shots.

Mr. Jaworski's letter:
Hello,
Thank you for visiting my site!
I call my website The Virtual Map of the Carpathian Mountains. You can check on the map that Carpathian Mountains are very big. I have about 400 pictures now which covers Polish and Ukrainian part of Carpathian Mountains. Before Second World War majority of those areas belonged to Poland (parts to Chech Republic and Romania). Now those areas are divided between Ukraine and Poland. Majority belongs to Ukraine, which I visited many times during last few years.
Most of pictures describes mountains placed near such towns like (Polish names) Stanislawów, Lwów, Kolomyja, Przemysl, Ustrzyki Górne, Rafajlowa, Osmoloda. (I can prepare appropriate geographical map for you in jpeg format) Pictures are collected into virtual-trips. The visitor can have a virtual walk with possibility of having a glance left, right or back (it should work like that...)
In the future I want to expand TheVirtual Map on the mountains neighborhood, I mean towns such as (Polish names) Stanislawów, Lwów, Kolomyja, Przemysl. My idea in describing towns is to connect new pictures with old, to show how the street, house looks now and how it looked 50 years ago. Building such a website is a hard work so it will last months (one of the reasons is the lack of old photos)
If you think that people want to see pictures of those areas in the web I can prepare English version of the instruction how to use the Virtual Map (polish version is available under the button with "?" mark).
If you have any more questions do not hesitate and write to me.
Michal Jaworski
