Gas can only be used in combination with special equipment (such as a welder's torch) or a suitable technology (such as pure oxygen injection in a furnace).

The development of gas applications has gone hand in hand with the development of corresponding equipment and technologies. With respect to both industry and healthcare, Air Liquide has continuously developed innovative gas equipment and technologies.

Gas Distribution Equipment

High-pressure gas in a cylinder must be reduced to a specific use pressure. This is the function of the pressure-regulator. The gas flow rate must be monitored by a flow meter and the gas itself must be carried to the point of use through small diameter pipes equipped with shut-off valves and nozzles for connecting a hose to supply the gas application tool or device.

All of this equipment, as well as the equipment required to use gas in liquid form, is included in the service we provide our customers.

Industrial Gas Application Eqipment

Quick-freezing food products with liquid nitrogen, oxygenating a trout-breeding tank or injecting pure oxygen in a cupola cast iron smelting furnace, require the use of equipment specially designed for each specific gas and application that is capable of meeting the customer's productivity and safety requirements.

This equipment is installed and commissioned in the customer's plant by local Air Liquide engineers and technicians.

Related Industrial Gas Technologies

Using hydrogen to heat treat metals or remove sulfur from fuel-oil, using argon to agitate and protect continuously cast molten steel from oxidation, and using ultra-pure nitrogen to protect electronic components during production, often require the use of very sophisticated technologies.

These technologies are developed by the Group's research staff and are often implemented on a partnership basis with our customers.
