Marlene Hoskin is seeking information on the family of John WYATT snr and his descendants. He and his wife Caroline nee Hull went to live at Purlington Farm as tenants under Lord Bridport, just before the Boer War. They had 11 children; Francis (m.cousin Annie), William, Benjamin (m. Annie Laurie Greet), John (m.Emily as above; Marlene's GGF), Caroline (m.William Dommett), Julia (m....Suell), Sarah (m. ...Fowler), Eleanor (m.Bill Norton), Robert (m. Bella Hex), Richard (m.Edith Cale).
John WYATT jnr married Emily Louisa La Feuillade and they had 6 boys; Willie (d.age 2), Charlie (d.age 8), John, Arthur, Ernest Benjamin and Robert Evan (b. 27 Jul 1879 at Crane Farm, Somerton SOM; Marlene's GF; m. 29 May 1909 at Bishopston Parish Church, County of Bristol).
Marlene will be visiting the UK at the end of May 2004 and will be searching for more information on John WYATT snr and on Emily Louisa WYATT nee la Feuillade who was given as 34 years of age in 1881 Somerton Census, born mid London and living at Crane Farm.

Peter Morgan has a main area of interest in the family of dairyman John Morgan (b.Mar-June 1849 Wincanton District, either Whitechurch or Henstridge SOM; death unknown). By 1881 Census, John was runnning the Albion Dairy in London and was still a dairyman in Brixton Lambeth in the 1901 Census.
He married Susanna Godden in 1878 in her home area of Kent. They had the following children: Anna (b.1879 Fulham), Carrie (1881, Fulham), Frank (1882, Fulham), Daisy (1883, Fulham), Lily (1886, Fulham), Harry (1891, Brixton London), May (1893, Brixton), Charles (1895, Brixton).
Frank was Peter's GF. Peter is particularly interested about all the other children and their descendants. Peter has no information on John Morgan's ancestry and would be grateful for help on finding more about this aspect and whether John had any siblings.

Mary H. Collinsis searching for descendants of Thomas and Elizabeth Sargent, listed above in the table where it would have been difficult to place all the the information provided by Mary.
The son Amos of Thomas and Elizabeth Sargent was in Gosport HAM in the Navy when he was married (#1) to Louisa Galpin. They had their first child Thomas, born there in 1871. Two more children were born to them - William (b.1873, Preston DOR) and Henry (b.16 Apr 1874 at Preston DOR). Louisa died in childbirth in that year.
Amos married a second time on 1 October 1874, to Louisa's sister Caroline in Melcombe Regis DOR. Amos and Caroline had 8 more children, all born in Preston DOR: John A. (1876), Frederick (1877), Louisa (1878), Elizabeth (1881), Amelia (1883), James (1885), Cissie (1888), Nellie (1890).
In the same year 1874, Eliza Galpin, the third sister, married Robert Hansford in 1874 at Weymouth DOR. Eliza and Robert took in the baby Henry, the third son of Amos and deceased Louisa. Henry was Mary's GF who married Rosetta Vondahellen Cross on 2 May 1910 at Romford Essex. Henry and Rosetta had 6 children,one of whom was Mary's Father, named as Robert Hansford Sargent after the man who took him in to his family as a baby.
Mary would be delighted to find ancestors and descendants of all of the above people and would welcome any assistance and advice in her research.

Laura Dron has much information on the families listed above but would appreciate finding out more about the descendants and their children who seem to have gone from Dorset from about 1881 and, for some, after the 1901 Census.

GARLAND: Thomas Richard Garland was born 1863 in Walditch DOR. First a miller/farmer and then a farmer at Beaminster DOR. Married Alice Agnes Gertrude INGRAM. Laura wishes to find out about their children - Violet (b.1888 Tadnoll DOR); James (b.1890) and Dorothy (b.1892), Lewell DOR.
PAGAN: Children Of Alexander Cox and Laura Emma Pagan had children - Ralph Alexander (b.1890), Laura M. (b.1892), Jack L. (b.1896) in the Allington, Bridport and Charmouth DOR areas. Where did they go and who did they marry? The whole family seems to vanish from the area after 1901.
GERRARD: Henry Gerrard was a mechanic and married Annie Marsh. Their children, born Loders DOR onwards from 1885, were Laura, Henry, Edith and Alice May. Laura Dron would like to know what happened to these children.
MARSH: Henry Marsh (wood turner - not farmer of same name) at Allington DOR, married two family tree sisters in succession and had children from each. All information and descendant data would be welcome. Laura is also trying to trace John Marsh who ran or worked at the sawmill in Dunster SOM. Said to be a "cousin" by her GM who knew him in her youth (she born 1885). How is he related?

William BURNELL married Ann(e) BUNCOMBE in 1812 at North Curry SOM but the births of neither appear in the North Curry Registers. They had at least 9 children christened at North Curry SOM between 1813 and 1827: Ann Alloway, Louise, William Alloway, Mary, Mary Harriett, Richard Buncombe, Edward, Robert Buncombe and Ellen.
John King LUDWELL married Jane HOUSE in 1822 at North Curry SOM. The births of neither appear in the North Curry Registers. They had at least 4 children between 1827 and 1840, the eldest known to have been christened at North Curry SOM: Mary House, Jane House, Sarah and Thomas.
John and Martha HOUSE had at least 6 children baptised at Stoke St Gregory SOM between 1754 and 1761. The baptisms, marriage and burials of John and Martha are not recorded in the Stoke St Gregory Registers.
James and Mary ELSON had at least one daughter Mary born c1783. They were not baptised or married in North Curry SOM but were buried there. Daughter Mary was not baptised in North Curry SOM.
Jane PALMER married Thomas HOUSE, son of John and Martha HOUSE, at Stoke St Gregory SOM in 1776 and was buried in this parish in 1785. She had not been baptised there.
Robert PEPPIN married Sarah THORNE (no date given). Robert was baptised at Stoke Perro SOM in 1829 and Sarah was born c1832 at Exford SOM.

Sue Scarcella is seeking information on a rather elusive ancestry which goes back to the Edward Stock, a well known surgeon in Bristol GLS.
Edward married Fanny Vining at St Paul's Church in Bristol in 1852. A daughter, Alice Vining Stock, was born in c1853 at Clifton, Bristol. Alice married John Garden Trenerry, a real estate agent, in Bristol in 1877 and they had many children. John's father, John Griffiths Trenerry, had been a solicitor and owned, among other property, a theatre. It is not clear what happened but many of the children of Alice and John emigrated to Australia where the Trenerry descendants have had careers as performers on the stage - theatre, classical music, television.
Finding information about the ancestors in the area around Bristol and Weston Super Mare has been difficult and Sue would appreciate any assistance that can be given about the Stock family and their ancestors.

Jim Sheppard is searching for information on Henry Sheppard and his father Jim Sheppard, shown as Shepheard on the marriage certificate of Henry.
Henry Sheppard served in the Royal Navy. His Naval Records show his birth year as 1818 at Bridgwater SOM.
Jim would appreciate help in finding the Baptismal Record for Henry and for information on his father, James.
