Roger Mayne The Docklands The Cheapside Hoard
Roger Mayne began his career with street photography which looked at forms of social interaction in public. For five years he concentrated on photographing Southam Street in North Kensington. A collection of images relating to the conservation of the river, the operation of the enclosed docks, port management, employment and social history. Many of the images are from the Museum in Docklands. The greatest hoard of Elizabethan and Jacobean jewellery ever found. The jewels were discovered in 1912 when workmen dug them up in Cheapside in London.
