Permanent exhibitions

We have four permanent galleries open to the public. The galleries are free to enter and you can explore the story of London from prehistoric times until the early Stuart period.

Our permanent exhibitions dealing with London’s history from 1666 to the 21st century will be closed while they undergo an £18 million transformation.

Exciting new galleries and improved visitor facilities will open in the autumn of 2009. Meanwhile, please follow the links on the left to find out about London before London, Roman London, Medieval London and Early Stuart London.

Find out about our special exhibitions and other exhibitions coming soon or find out more about our redevelopment project.
