Julius La Rosa

Born on January 2, 1930 in the Brooklyn borough of New York City,
Julius La Rosa would become one of the nation's top recording and
television stars in the early 1950's.

After graduating from high school, Julius joined the U.S. Navy and
while singing in the Navy Band he was discovered by Arthur Godfrey,
who upon being discharged hired Julius as a regular on his
immensely popular television variety show.

Godfrey's band leader, Archie Blyer, soon formed Cadence Records
and signed Julius LaRosa as the labels first artist where his
"Anywhere I Wonder" exploded on the Hit Parade reaching the
top five in early 1953. Later on that same year, Julius was named the
nations best new male vocalist as his "Eh Compari" topped
the charts at #1 in November.   In 1954, his version of
"Three Coins in the Fountain" also charted.

In 1955 with Julius performing at Carnegie Hall and night clubs,
his "Domani" hit the top ten nationally. Besides his regular
appearances on Ed Sullivan's "Talk of the Town" his own
"Julius La  Rosa Show" was on television three times a week.
