COMPLETE TNA WRESTLING iMPACT RESULTS FOR 6/13/2008

By Charles Rice

gailimpact.jpgJust days after history was made at Slammiversary, still TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Samoa Joe showed TNA fans the world over that there truly is no rest for the wary.

After becoming the first ever man to walk in to the King of the Mountain match as the champion and walk out with the gold still in tact, Joe kicked off iMPACT! by defending the gold against the young but skilled Kaz. In a match that showed why Kaz is not someone to be taken lightly, Joe and he went back and forth. At one point it looked like Joe had the win secured when he locked on the STF submission hold. Kaz showed great ring presence and was able to get to the ropes. In the end though Kaz got caught on the top ropes and Joe capitalized to pick up the win.

This match was not only being watched by the fans mind you, but also by two sets of very watchful eyes. Eyes that belonged to Booker T and Kevin Nash. As soon as the match had concluded, Booker made his presence felt. He came out and sarcastically congratulated Joe on having beat KAZ. But, Booker was not there to congratulate Joe. Instead Booker claimed that Joe had "screwed" him and went on to call him a "punk ass champion."

What it came down to was Booker was curious as to whether Joe could live with himself knowing that Booker was the rightful champion. He then extended a challenge to Joe for the title and told the "Samoan Submission Machine" he knew where to find him.

In the back Kurt Angle is being interviewed by Lauren. Unfortunately for Lauren, Kurt was not in a good mood after having found out Karen had signed a Knockout contract. This is because that meant he couldn't take her out himself due to the rules of male on female violence. Still Kurt said he would not be derailed from making this Karen's last night in TNA because he had put a hit out on her. Angle then took on the role of fortune teller when he predicted that both Karen and AJ would be lying motionless later on after both being taken out.

In other news it was an exciting night in TNA because preparation for the World X Cup had begun. The fans in the iMPACT! Zone were given a special treat. Throughout the night there were two preview matches. The first featured the Motor City Machine Guns representing TNA taking on Masato Yoshinu and Naruki Doi of the Dragon Gate promotion out of Japan. In a match that is sure to end up on a best of DVD somewhere down the line, these four men put on one of the fastest paced matches ever seen in the iMPACT Zone. All four men shared similar styles and it made for a high flying barrage of excitement. In the end though, the Motor City Machine Guns spoiled the newcomers US national television debut when they were able to connect with the double super kick allowing Chris Sabin to pick up the win.

After the match, Karen Angle was seen in the back telling Jeremy Borash that what Kurt was doing was ridiculous and that he needed to take care of it. During the interview, they were interrupted by the "Beautiful People" who made it clear they were not pleased that Karen was getting paid more than them. As a way to show their anger, they tried to brown bag Karen, only to be stopped by AJ. He told them he didn't want any trouble. As they were leaving they made fun of AJ and then told him, if he ever wanted to experience a real woman he knew where to find them.

In another section of the backstage area, fans see Lauren trying to interview Kevin Nash. While he answered her questions, he was very vague and in so many words said that Joe had won because of him without really coming out and saying it. As Nash was mid sentence though Joe had made his way out to the ring and called Nash out.

The two meet in the ring and Nash told Joe that he couldn't beat Booker T because Booker was in his head. The champion, not liking what he had been told said Nash was riding his coattails and he was tired of it. Further more he told Nash that he could take his opinions and shove them.

It seems safe to say that the alliance that once was Kevin Nash and Samoa Joe came to an emphatic end on iMPACT! The question that remains now, is whether or not Nash is right, this is because later in the night after telling off Nash, Joe went and accepted Booker's challenge. Only time will tell once Booker and Joe meet one on one at Victory Road on July 13th in Booker's home town of Houston.

Still iMPACT! was far from over because up next LAX was taking on Robert Roode and "Cowboy" James Storm. In a hard hitting match, it looked at one point like we were going to have new tag team champions. This is because James Storm used his boot wrapped with a belt to knock out Hernandez. This allowed him to pick up the three count and steal the win. After much arguing from Hector Guerrero to the referee, the match was restarted and Hernandez got his revenge. After a vicious power bomb on Storm, Hernandez covered him for the win.

Storm and Roode were not finished. While they may have lost the match, there was still punishment to be dished out. After handcuffing all three members of LAX to the ring, they began whipping them with leather belts. They also smacked the referee for good measure.

Later on iMPACT! Roode and Storm challenged LAX to retaliate. They must have a death wish because after making fun of their Mexican heritage, handcuffing them to the ring, and then calling them out, LAX is sure to want some revenge. One thing is for sure, Roode and Storm better watch their backs.

Another person who needed to be watching her back was Karen Angle. This is because Kurt's hit was still on and he had been spotted in a meeting backstage with Little Petey Pump, Scott Steiner and Rhaka Kahn. Who knows what they were discussing?

In Knockout action Gail Kim was able to pick up the win over Velvet Sky after a back and forth match. The real win came for Kim after the match however when she was able to give Velvet Sky a little taste of her own medicine, placing the brown bag over her head.

In another World X Cup match preview, Curry Man took on Alex Kozlov of Team International. Both men showed strength, agility, and their dancing skills but in the end it was Kozlov who came out on top.

Either way though, this match as well as the other preview match from earlier in the night showed fans that the World X Cup tournament promises not to disappoint.

Up next, TNA's resident wedding crasher himself, Sonjay Dutt, was in action against one of TNA's newest members, Consequences Creed. Before the match, Dutt dedicated it to "his love" So Cal Val. Throughout the match whenever he would hit a move he would blow kisses to the camera saying they were for Val. In the end Dutt picked up the win after going high flying, still Creed put on a great match and showed that he will have a bright future in TNA.

The celebration for Dutt's victory was short lived, as soon as the match was over "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal was in the ring attacking his former friend and best man. He then told him it was going to be Lethal vs. Dutt next week. During the attack Val had been ringside cheering on Lethal.

In a rematch from Slammiversary it was AJ Styles taking on Kurt Angle once again. Only this time it was a lumberjack match. The lumberjacks were Christian Cage, Rhino, Matt Morgan, Team 3D, and Tomko.

In a match that was very one sided throughout, AJ dominated Kurt. Several times he forced Kurt out of the ring, only to watch on as Rhino, Morgan, and Cage took cheap shots at him. In the end, it was Kurt's lumberjacks that proved to be the difference makers. Team 3D took out Rhino by slamming him onto the concrete. Then Devon caught AJ while he was on the top rope allowing Kurt to set him up for the Angle Slam and the win.

From there it was an all out brawl. Team 3D and Tomko along with Kurt began attacking Morgan, Cage, and AJ. Just when it looked like they were going to be put through tables, Abyss made his return to the iMPACT! Zone and helped take out Team 3D and Kurt. He then choke slammed Tomko through a table.

It looked as if AJ was now in control and was going to frog splash Kurt through a table. At the last second Kurt moved and AJ put himself through a table. From there Kurt slapped on the ankle lock. He only stopped when Karen came out and got in his face daring him to hit her. Most people would have a hard time controlling themselves but all Kurt did was smile.

The next thing you knew, Awesome Kong's music began to play and Kurt began laughing as Karen's face turned to one of complete terror. Kong came out and did as Kurt directed. She took Karen out. As iMPACT! went off the air, Kurt's words were ringing in everyone's ear's. He truly had left AJ and Karen lying motionless on their back's in the ring.

If you missed iMPACT! this week worry not. You can catch the replay Saturday night on Spike TV. Check local listings for times.

All roads end in the same place, on a little street called Victory Road. The question is who will make it there and who won't. Tune into iMPACT! next week to see.
