Is it wrong to use a face scrubing pad on your face? Or should you just use a washcloth?
I have been using a face scrubbing pad on my face, thinking it is getting rid of the dead skin cells, but I started to break out really bad recently, and I didn't know if the pad is making it worse. Am I just breaking open the pimple and moving the bacteria? What do you suggest I use?

I am 14 if that makes a difference so I know I am going to break out, but I was just wondering if the scrub pad is too harsh on my face. What do you think?

The pad could be holding on to all kinds of bacteria. And not just bacteria that came off of your face. Throw it away immediately.
When I wash my face:
1. I first wash my hands.
2. Then I use my fingers to wash my face with a liquid scrub. Then rinse.
3. Then I use a clean dry towel to pat my face dry.
4. Use a cotton ball to apply astringent. (This cleans of everything
5. Apply a little moisturizer with my fingers.

- I thought your answer was really informal. You also understood what I was asking, where I don't think many others did. I also never thought of washing my hands before washing my face, and it makes ALOT of sense. Now, I do that, and hopefully my face will begin to clear up. I threw out the pad too

- Sometimes, a facial scrub can be a great tool for discarding dead skin cells and other impurities. However, that being said, it may also be harmful to your skin if it is being used too often. Try going a couple days without using it and see if your skin improves at all. Maybe you could try a softer scrub for gentle skin(St.Ive's Apricot Gentle) or a cleanser(Clean&Clear facial wash). It may just be what you are eating, your environment and other factors that are actually causing the damage. HOpe this helps!
- Here's what you should do. Get some St. Ives face scrub in a bottle or something similar to that. You should only use that to exfoliate your skin 2 or 3 times a week. The rest of the time use a normal face wash. I've been using this Neutrogena foam cleanser for stress break outs lately and it works really well.
- perhaps you are allergic to one of the ingredients, and i would advise you not to continue using the pads, and swap it for a sensitive skin varitey, also, some arent sutuible for young skin,like a teenagers

my brain? - yup the pad is definitely making it worse...stop using anything for a few days until it settles down and then use a washcloth but very very gently
- no im 14 too and im allergic to some ingredients you should try to use a different type of soap
- Maybe u shouldn't use it any more. Try something else.
