PETA Blogger

Position Objective:

To create a window into the daily goings-on and campaigns of the organization by writing and posting creative and interesting content on PETA's blog

Term of Employment:

Full-time

Reports to:

Marketing Manager

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Sift through information about PETA's actions and other interesting animal and celebrity news on a daily basis and pull the most compelling content for consideration for PETA's blog
  • Write witty and engaging blogs on topics ranging from PETA's naked demonstrations to regulatory testing on animals and from dogfighting to celebrities who support the cruel fur industry
  • Create and maintain relationships with other bloggers and pitch relevant content about PETA to them
  • Respond to questions and comments from readers of the blog
  • Track and analyze Web traffic, coverage from other blogs, and user interactivity with the goal of making strategy changes to maximize success
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Previous exceptional writing experience, which can include writing for blogs, newspapers, magazines, or other publications
  • Previous Web writing experience
  • College degree in a related field or several years of equivalent experience
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to make sound judgments and deal with a variety of people in a professional manner
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns
  • Ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
