If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million.
Airing animal rights videos on cable public access television is
one of the most effective and inexpensive ways to reach people with
a message of compassion. Thanks to activists across the country,
from Washington, D.C., to San Francisco, thousands of people have
already seen pro-animal videos on cable access television. We want
to help you bring this incredibly valuable tool to your community.
People tell us all the time that they decided to go vegetarian, stop patronizing the circus, or buy cruelty-free cosmetics because of a video they saw on a public access station.

Getting animal rights videos on TV takes a little bit of time at
first, but the payoff for animals is huge. Below is a basic outline
of how to get started with this project. The process for showing
videos on cable access varies for different stations, but your local
station should be able to provide you with instructions upon request.
(If during the process there are any financial costs to you, we
can help out.) After reading the information below and contacting
your local station, please email us at veginfo@peta.org to let us know your plan and to obtain videos. (Feel free to contact
us at any point if you have questions about the project.) People
tell us all the time that they decided to go vegetarian, stop patronizing
the circus, or buy cruelty-free cosmetics because of a video they
saw on a public access station. We hope you will decide to join
other animal activists around the country in utilizing this very
valuable tool.
What Is a Cable Public Access Station, and Where Do I Find Mine?
Because cable companies are granted monopolies to provide cable
in certain areas, they are required to dedicate one or more channels
to the interests of the local community. Frequently this takes the
form of a “public access station,” a station on which
members of the community can determine the programming. Most areas
that are covered by a cable-television provider have a public access
station. Contact information for your local cable access station
can often be found by simply watching the station itself or by contacting
your local cable service provider. You may also find the station’s
contact info by searching the Internet or the yellow pages or by
visiting The Global Village CAT. (Note: Cable access stations may also be listed as "community access television" or "public access television.")
