Newspapers In Education
(NIE) is a national effort in which the Pioneer Press has participated
for more than thirty years. Through this program, students
of all ages are provided with innovative learning tools, including
the most up-to-date tool available, the daily newspaper.
The use of the newspaper helps students develop strong reading
and writing skills, while allowing them to explore math, science,
politics, health, geography, and current events that are relevant
to their everyday lives.
The Pioneer Press
NIE web site is intended to be dynamic and user-friendly.
Using the above links, select Weekly
Quiz and you will be presented with a recent Pioneer
Press article and related quiz that can be used in preparation
for the Minnesota Basic Skills Test in Reading.
Each
week in the Features
section you will be able to experience new editions of Parade
Classroom and NewsCurrents. Each provides
in-depth, challenging, and topical lessons for students of all
ages.
