Security Warning – Phishing/Spam email


It has come to our attention there are emails circulating, claiming to be from Spin and asking customers to verify their password information via an included web address.

These emails are NOT legitimate mail from us and should be simply discarded.

We will never ask you to visit a website outside our network to update any of your sensitive information. You can do this yourself at any time through our User Service section from the Spin website.

You will notice that the spelling and grammar is poor and that there is a very impersonal signature. These factors, coupled with the link to somewhere outside of our network, are usually good indicators that the message is a hoax.

There are a few variations of these types of spam, which have a similar purpose or request. Below is a sample of one such email currently being sent:

> account owners. We are currently upgrading our data base and e-mail

> center. We are deleting all unused spin.net.au email account to create

> space for new accounts.

> CONFIRM YOUR EMAIL IDENTITY BELOW
>
> Email Username : .......... .....
> EMAIL Password : ................
> Date of Birth : .................
> Country or Territory : ..........
>
> Warning!!! Account owner that refuses to update his or her account
> within Seven days of receiving this warning will lose his or her
> account permanently.
>
> Thank you for using spin.net.au!
>
> Warning Code:VX2G99AAJ
