Soy yogurt containing "live A & B cultures"?

I bought some soy yogurt and in the ingredients is listed "live A & B cultures". What does this mean/what is it? Is it vegan?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I really have no idea!

Yogurt contains live bacteria. Yogurt is composed of milk and bacteria. The bacteria break up the lactose (sugar) in milk. When they break the sugars up it causes the milk to thicken and hence you have yogurt. The bacteria in yogurt are beneficial for your health and will not harm you.

The O'Soy brand says on the container that it contains dairy because of the cultures. The Silk brand of yogurt is vegan- their live and active cultures are derived from a plant source. Silk tastes better anyway. Love the key lime pie!!

and those are called PROBIOTICS! yay, they are wonderful for you!

Studies found that probiotics may improve nutrient bioavailability, including B vitamins, calcium, iron, zinc, copper, magnesium and phosphorus.

Pediatric studies found that probiotics aids in a significantly decreasing the rate of acute diarrhea and rotavirus shedding.

Parents also reported a 25% decrease in diaper rash among babies drinking formula containing probiotics.

Probiotics and active bacteria culture may improve lactose intolerance. The bacterial strain commonly used in yogurt can produce lactase enzymes. Therefore, people with lactose intolerance and children suffering from intestinal infection can usually tolerate yogurt with an active culture.

Many studies showed that by regulating intestinal transit time, probiotics improve constipation among the elderly.

Other studies showed that probiotics, especially acidophilus, promotes the growth of healthy bacteria in the colon and reduces the conversion of bile into carcinogens (cancer causing substances).

Quite a few studies found that probiotics may enhance immunity by regulating lymphocytes as well as antibodies.

The 'cultures' bacteria found in yogurts are vegan, unless you are very unhealthy you already have some living in your intestines. They help you digest food, so your body dosn't kill them.
