What are some good books written by Filipino authors can you recommend?

There's Nick Joaquin, Amado V. Hernandez, F. Sionel Jose, Lualhati Bautista, Edgardo M. Reyes... I think their books are usually ignored by a lot of young readers today, which is such a waste. I usually read foreign books, but I think now it's time for me to explore Filipino literature. Please take note that although I know the names of these people, I have not read much of their works.

Among my favorites:

Nick Joaquin
Cave and Shadows (1983)
The Woman Who had Two Navels (1961)
Children of the Ash-Covered Loam and Other Stories

NVM Gonzalez
A Season of Grace (1956)

If you have a chance to get hold of short story compilations published by the UP Press, they also have good literary works of budding writers.

Thanks. I recently bought myself a copy of "The Woman Who Had Two Navels", and I'm looking forward to reading it. I still have another book to finish.
