Dr. Peterson received his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins. He taught at Bowdoin, William and Mary, Penn and Portland State. Dr. Peterson is also formerly associated with the Middle East Institute, Foreign Policy Research Institute, Center for Strategic and International Studies and International Institute for Strategic Studies. He formerly was Historian of the Sultan's Armed Forces in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defence, Sultanate of Oman. He is the author of a dozen books and more than 40 scholarly articles on the region.
