Anatol Lieven, a British journalist, writer and historian, is a senior research fellow at the New America Foundation in Washington DC, working on international affairs, and in particular on US strategy in the war on terror. His next book, Ethical Realism and US Foreign Policy (co-authored with John Hulsman) is to be published by Random House in the autumn of 2006. From 1990-96 Anatol Lieven was a correspondent for The Times (London) in the former Soviet Union, based first in Vilnius, later in Moscow. In 1988-89 he was correspondent for The Times (London) in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Anatol Lieven’s latest book, America Right or Wrong: An Anatomy of American Nationalism, was published in October 2004 by Harper Collins in the UK and Oxford University Press in the U.S. It has been translated into five languages and is to appear in Arabic in 2007.
