Budget 2008/09

The Mayor presented his final consolidated budget for 2008/09 to the London Assembly on 13 February 2008, and it is available to download.

Annual budget

The Greater London Authority (GLA) sets a budget for itself and each of the four functional bodies: Transport for London, the London Development Agency, the Metropolitan Police Authority, and the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority. These budgets together form the consolidated budget.

It is the Mayor who sets the budgets unless the London Assembly can achieve a two-thirds majority in favour of alternative budget proposals.

Mayor's and Assembly Members' Salaries

Salaries for the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Assembly Members for the current financial year are as follows:

  • Mayor £137,579
  • Deputy Mayor £90,954
  • Chair of the Assembly £60,675
  • Assembly Members £50,582
  • Assembly Members who are also MPs £33,721 (from May 2008, £16,861)

Resettlement Grant Scheme

In February 2008 the Assembly and Mayor agreed a Resettlement Grant Scheme for elected Members, effective from 1st March 2008:
