Brown eyes are a dominant characteristic. Blue eyes are recessive. The babies blue eyes can be inherited from either parents side of the family. However if the baby is very young he will likely have blue eyes that will change color as he gets older. For instance, I have 3 children. One has light blue eyes, one has eyes so dark a brown they are almost black and one has brown eyes. My husband has brown eyes and my eyes are blueish green. Two of my children were born with blue eyes. The only one who wasn't is the one with very dark brown eyes. She has 3 children also one with dark brown eyes, one with dark green eyes and one with brown eyes. So, as you can see the childs eyes can vary within a family.

Eye colour is complicated.... but the basic version is that each parent passes a single colour gene to the child, and so each child has 2 genes. Brown is dominant over blue and green, so for instance if you get a brown and a blue gene, you will have brown eyes. Someone with brown eyes may have a blue or green eyed parent, so they can pass that gene on to the child. If the other parent has blue or green eyes, they must have a blue-blue gene set or a blue-green gene set.

In short, if there is a blue or green eyed grandparent one one side and a blue or green eyed parent on the other, you can have a child with blue or green eyes.

My husband has brown eyes, I have blue and our son has blue eyes. But my husband's mum has blue eyes.

basic biology says that brown is dominant. so if u have brown eyes, depending on what color eyes ur parents have, the baby will have brown. if u have a color gene for blue[or green] then the baby could have blue or green. you have to set up a punnent square to see possiblities.

if you would like me to do that for you just tell me the eye colors of both sides great grandparents/ and grandparents/ both parents of the baby. email is fantasticalfee@gmail.com

    Brown eyes are dominant.

For a child to have blue eyes both parents must have light eyes.
