I'm checking into a hotel for the night and having 12 hours or so of uninterrupted solitude. My husband suggested a spa day, but I'd rather get a good 8 hours of sleep followed by a leisurely breakfast that does not involve requests for cartoons or spilled OJ.

I love my family, but sometimes having a few hours away is the biggest gift imaginable.

  • My kids are 3 and a half and 5 months.I have one on the way as well. At no point will I ever expect anything out of them for a day on the calander. If they do anything then I would love whatever it was,but I dont think its right to expect it just because its socially excepted to spend momey left and right any time there is an excuse.I'd be perfectly content with a kiss and "I love you mom"

Well, I'm not a mom but we do all sorts of things for our mother.

In early April I spent 9 days vacationing in Greece. While I was there, I took a day cruise to the islands of Hydra, Poros, and Aegina. In Hydra, I got her a hand painted oil-on-canvas painting and put it in a beautiful frame I carved myself. I also got her a lilac bush and am picking it up from the supplier Friday to plant it immediately. I am cooking her an elaborate dinner and then we're going out for a dessert bar. I have also published some of my stories and poetry for her and put it in an anthology for her. It's the only copy in existance :D

I got a weekend away from my family with my best friend and it was wonderful for mothers day... this year my boys are taking me out for dinner and a movie and they are 10-7yrs old and they had to tell me so we could arrange for a nurse to be with my mom for a few hours... they probably also have some tricks and treats up their sleeves also i am sure...

I tell my husband a hug is enough for me, my daughter's only 1 but even a card with scribbles on it would melt my heart! Anything homemade i think would be best!

I'd love for my husband to get brave enough to let the kids cook me breakfast. They'd get a huge thrill out of cooking for Mommy and I'd love the bonding between them and Daddy and the joy in their eyes when they served it to me.
