GTS2003: More Dungeons and Dragons Miniature Pictures
Posted 2003-03-20 02:01:22 by dansivils

D&D Official News Dan Sivils Reports: We were lucky enough to get some more pictures done on the upcoming D&D; miniatures. Some of these really give the great quality of the figs. If the finals are this good this we’d expect the only problem will be keeping them in stock. I actually didn’t see some of these when I was at the booth, seeing them while reviewing the shots taken by

some of the other staff here at the show (thanks go out to Liz Shuh Publishing Marketing Director for letting the pictures happen). Pretty damn cool figs….

The only reason they will sell out is you'll have to buy 23 boxes just to get the elf thief you want.

The figures themselves are nice. The painting jobs leave a lot to be desired. They are painted well, but so simply. Shame they've gone to prepainted figures. Besides Mage Knight as well as other companies have already filled this niche. Suffice to say that I will need to be seriously impressed before I spend any money on these figures as I won't forget that the last time WoTC put out figures the line was cancelled. Just my two cents.

Is Dan Silvis on Hasbro payroll? What are you talking about great detail? Have you ever even seen a Reaper figure sculpted by Sandra Garrity? Honestly, look at these figures. They are crap. The bases suck. I'm not even going to go futher

If my local game store handle these figs like they do Mage Knight singles, then I'm set. For $20 I already got 22 Orc figs for the games I DM thanks to Mage Knight. The only real pain was to rebase them. With these figs, I won't have to even do that.

And of course when I play in a game, I got my PC fig from Reaper.

These look pretty good for what they are: cheap, low-quality prepainted minis. You're not getting Reaper quality, but you're also not paying Reaper prices.

Dude, who took these pictures?(Score: 0)

With the possible exception of the first picture, the others needed lighting.

At least get a flashlight, dude.

They may not be Reaper quality but they also sure aren't Reaper prices either. Get off you high minature horse before you break you little neck.

Are the bases of the large-sized creatures wider than the medium-sized creatures? If so, that's really really really really really really really stupid and annoying.

Why would Large (tall) creatures have a wider base than Medium sized creatures when the Face is the same? (5ft x 5ft). That just makes no sense to me. I'd really like a line of D&D; minis that didn't get canceled but seriously... I thought 3.5 was going to be even *more* focused on minis. Why in the name of all that's good and holy would they make minis with bases that don't match up with the Face listing in the MM?

That Owlbear is not to shabby. I like the troll too. The elf in the first picture... not so much.

I also don't like the random idea.
